Fair enough man, on the subject of compacts I've got a Nikon 35Ti coming for Christmas, can't wait.
They're too complicated imo. Same as the Contax G platform and most high end rangefinders. If any camera starts requiring constant attention/maintenance, it becomes a liability and thus removes it from what it was meant to do, take pictures. I loved my G2 but I had to treat it with kid gloves everywhere I went. I cherish my cameras, but some of them took the piss in terms of fragility considering half were made of titanium or some other exotic shite.
Well I got my hands on it and shot half a roll on it today alongside the gr1 and the nikon just felt much more solid, it has quite a few functions but I just shot in P mode and Aperture priority really.
Glad I got it for sure but it's definitely not what I'll be bringing out on rides.

If you wanted a hard copy I've got a spare you can borrow/have.
So far I've shot portra 800 and Poundland film in my one.
This was snap I took on portra 800 today when I realised I hadn't yet finished the christmas roll.

This seems like a pretty decent deal for anyone using 120 film. Film, processing and prints for about the same price as a roll of film. I'll be getting stuff processed and printed by them soon so will report back.
"Our new voucher offer gives you 5 rolls of 120 film, processing, scans and prints all for a tiny £30.00.
£30.00 buys 5 rolls of 120 film (currently Fujifilm Provia 100F).
∙ 5 individual vouchers that each include processing, scanning and printing.Vouchers can be used one at a time (if you have only 1 film to process), or if you have been particularly snap happy, you could send all 5 rolls and vouchers back together.
*Q: What if I'm not a local customer?
We have a special rate for our mail order customers. The same deal as above will cost £40.00, but will include return postage costs. This includes the initial shipment of the films and vouchers to you and the cost to return processed films to you. We won't penalise you for sending in just 1 roll. You can send in 1 roll or all 5 together, the return costs to you are included in the £40.00 offer.

The draw back is the film expired in 2012 but has been kept in a fridge so should be ok.

^^ would.
Curious what dpi the scans are though.

So, I gave it a go. I posted something earlier, but the pics were crap. I had them scanned at my local camera shop and they came out a lot better.
As before, this is my first ever 5x4 shoot, and my first ever processing anything myself, so, as I said before "Fuck yeah"
So, I went to the CameraFair in Beaconsfield last Sunday, and came back with a 5x4 monorail (with a really crappy lens and shutter) and a couple of double dark slides. On Monday I aquired some darkcloth from Southall Market.
All I need now is
a) film
b) processing kit (I thought I'd do this using the "taco" method in a developing tank.
c) chemicalsCheers

I think you have a 50 1.8, a 135 3.5, a 35-70, a tamron 90mm tele-macro, and a bunch of teleconverters and some stuff for duplicating slides. I wouldn't put the old flashes anywhere near a new digital body, as they're liable to fry the circuitry. You can mount the lenses on a new body with an adapter, although the teleconverters probably won't work.

^ This.
I imagine the slide converter will be pretty much useless too.
OM stuff is pretty well regarded and sought after though. I fancy an OM2, just got to find an affordable one.

http://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/tamron-adaptall-2-sp-90mm-f-2-5-52b.htmlForgive my ignorance, but would a modern camera with autofocus be able to drive the lenses, or would they need to be focussed etc manually?
Thanks for your identification work.

• #7044
I think they're all manual focus lenses - no motor to drive.
-
• #7045
Ah, that makes it simpler. I should probably learn how to use the camera that I have, eh?
-
• #7046
The tele-macro in particular looks like it could be a lovely portrait lens, so could be worth getting to grips with. Plus the adapters look inexpensive - Adapter for Olympus OM Lens to Canon EOS EF 5D 7D 550D: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

This should maybe go in epic fail:
- Fitted tele-macro to body
- Played around with focussing on different objects
- Would on a frame (film still in the camera from god knows when
- Pressed shutter release button
- Clockwork noise
- Nothing- mirror is locked back, nothing visible through viewfinder
Any ideas?

Battery is almost certainly flat. Switch it to the "check" mode to test it.

his tate modern retrospective "if one thing matters, everything matters" was probably the most personally significant exhibition I've seen. on me, not sure if that made sense.
