  • Just saw some rather nice 1940s kodachrome colour pix in a link on the b3ta newsletter:
    http://www.warhistoryonline.com/featured-article/colour-wwii-photos-look-like-they-were-taken-yesterday.html

  • ...

  • Yashica Electro, Fuji Velvia 100.

  • fuckin aye, the colours! Sorry to talk tech, but what scanner?

  • The one at the lab?
I'm pretty chummy with the techs there - regular customer and specific requests result in sharp hi res scans.

    Good guys - http://www.digitalab.co.uk/

  • Miles better than what I get from peak, ill try em next time. What scan do you get? Low / high res?

  • I just ask for medium res tiffs.

  • One more.
    Same as above.

  • Love that pic of Olly!

  • HA, how'd you know Olly?

  • He was one of my best mates all through school. It's rare I see him these days though. That photo captures him and his personality perfectly.

  • I was inspired to dig these out...

  • Unreal! I want to send them to him but fear it may freak him out a touch without context.

  • Tell him you've run your one through one of those apps that takes the years off.

  • Those old pictures of Olsen are amazing!

  • I'm just going to repost some more Olly because why not.

Probably the best BMX shot I've ever taken:

It's worth seeing the full size jobby - well sharp! http://www.flickr.com/photos/mah_shoes/8539554333/sizes/c/in/photostream/

    And a portrait:

  • Anyone used any printing services? Either from film or digital. Been looking around on talkphotography (can't figure that place out at all btw) and loxley and proam comes up. Prices ar vastly different though

  • I can't remember who I used but Cibachrome prints are one of the most beautiful things ever.

  • Cibachrome is dead isn't it?

    Lovely bloke, all traditional though

  • Still around as Ilfochrome I'm pretty sure.

Very much not ecologically sound though.

  • Probably the best BMX shot I've ever taken (...) It's worth seeing the full size jobby - well sharp!

Not sure whether I already said that the first time you posted it -
really really like that picture, though I can't stop thinking 'I wish the fucking fence wasn't so sharp'.
Would be so much better with smaller depth of field in my opinion / I'd spend an hour or two in post for this one I guess..

Loooking forward to seeing more bmx shots and especially more climbing shots from you!

  • Ps - my Win7 does not want to recognize Quato Intelliscan scanner,
even though drivers / TWAIN stuff installed properly via Silverfast CD.
    Any suggestions?

  • Loving the colours of the Velvia, nefarious. Oh how I wish shooting slide film wasn't so expensive! Obviously it's not just down to the film though. Especially liking the misty peaks one.

    It'll be a while - broken kneecap over here. . .

Velvia is great - the most bland of landscapes look epic!
