  • I am contemplating getting a Contax T3. I'd like a nice slim pocketable camera I can carry around with me that has a good lens, anyone had any experience with them? Also looking at the Ricoh GR1...

Never tried the Contax but I'd like to point out that there are quite a few nice cameras in the Ricoh range that are seriously more affordable than the GR series.

I have an R10 and a modded R1 that are my most used cameras now.

  • Is there a film camera that's known for being water resistant? Sounds like an idiotic question but I only had my XA this weekend and didn't use it more than twice because of the rain, pissed me off.

  • Olympus MJU II

Bomb proof and weather sealed. I usually put mine in a jersey pocket when I'm out cycling.

It's not waterproof but unless you go underwater with it it'll hold up fine. I've used mine in tropic climates and It's been great.

  • Supersonic-zlad what film and camera? Just posting a picture doesn't show us what you used...........

Hey. Yeah, sorry about that, completely forgot. Hasselblad 500CM with Portra 400VC. Was surprised by the relatively muted colours, but quite like the effect.

  • XA2, expired fuji 800.

XA love fest. Double-X in Diafine. 400-800 asa.

Nice work! Like these two in particular.

I've got a mju 2 but the reaaallly slow lens annoys me, esp when shooting candid stuff! But yeah I should dig it out.

Have you got the zoom version because that's pants compared to the standard edition one.

  • ah yes I do. Now I see the problem! Merci.

  • Few shots from my 4th roll of film. XA2 with fuji 200 slide film. There are some better shots on the roll I think, but the scans were awful, hopefully gonna rescan them soon... Andy?

  • Where do you process your film nefarious, you get really lush tones.

  • A load of places for c41 includings jessops and other cheapo 1hr places but mainly digitalab as they do B&W, e6 and c41. I also then scan the negs myself.

  • have you ever gotten scans from digitalab?

  • They have either a Hasselblad or Imacon flextight scanner that I saw at a tour of digitalab so I imagine the scans would be pretty good, although I haven't actually had any done by them. What kind of scanner do you use nefarious?

  • .....

  • have you ever gotten scans from digitalab?

Nope. Always seemed expensive - I know they've recently changed their prices though. Also not much point paying when I've got access to a really nice slide scanner.

I use a Nikon coolscan 9000 that they've got in my studio. For 35mm film they just use a Coolscan IV last time I checked, it's the reason I never bothered getting scans from them.

  • Coolscan IV no good?

  • or just similar to coolscan 9000?

  • good but not as good as the 9000

  • Coolscan IV no good?

Yeah, they're alright but not as good as the 9000. I started scanning on an IV but when they got a 9000 into the studio I ended up rescanning everything I'd done on the IV as the 9000's scans were so much better.

  • hm... been pondering an IV for home use as it seems to be somewhat normally priced on the bay, then again, a fiver for scan to cd when you dev is allright too, at least for lomo stuff

  • Well I got some done at digitalab and they seem a bit shit to me. Dunno if it's the scans or if they did something to the images after, but they look like someone got a bit carried away with the sharpen tool in photoshop. Just wanting them rescanned to see what the difference is. Also the colours on the slides look quite different to the scans, maybe that's just what happens

  • can anyone recommend a good uk photography forum? Preferably for analogue stuff but if it caters for all i don't mind dipping my toes in both ponds
