They created a camera that will be well received amongst IG crowd/blogosphere and create desirability whilst not spending much to develop it. I’m sure their profit margin on each camera is considerably higher than on a digital equivalent.

It’s interesting they opted for half frame as viewfinder will be vertical a la IG/TikTok and the economy of 48/72 shots per roll offsets some of the high cost of film.

I wouldn’t buy it but I like that it’s a curve ball from otherwise dull and repetitive camera manufacturers

Only to the same extent that it's the same as an Olympus Pen, Fujica Mini, Canon Demi etc. All of which are long out of production.

It's not something I'd buy but it is interesting and encouraging. Must be the first new 35mm camera from someone that's not either Leica or an insta/kickstarter thing in a loooong time right?

It'd be nice to have the spare cash to have the choice (I wouldn't get one either, actually because of other cameras). But I agree, I was pleasantly surprised to see it.

Indeed - seeing it sells like hot cake everywhere.
And pretty much everybody who uses it loves it!

Personally I wouldn't buy one either, but have to admit I'd love to shoot a couple rolls with one.. 🙂

Lovely shot, I have a 645AF which is converting me from 6x7

I've come full circle - I really want one. I've just decided to get rid of my XA3 which I've had hit and miss results with and quite fancy one as a replacement; mostly for mountain walking and anywhere I don't feel like carrying other cameras. XA3 shots below as a contribution.

lovely stuff, what's the film?

Rollei Retro 400S - bulk rolled it comes out quite reasonably priced.

Just got scans from my first 3 rolls of film back. Some are turd, some are nice. Dropping a few in here as I go through them. Unedited so might be wonky and such. They all seem to be way more grainy than anticipated. Could that be the older camera / lens that I'm using?

What camera / lens were you using?
And, more importantly, what kind of film?

Grainyness is mostly a matter of the kind of film used (and the exposure / developement / scanning, to a degree) - the lens mostly determines how the sharp and unsharp areas in the image look, and the camera itself is more or less just a lightproof box 🙂

They all seem to be way more grainy than anticipated. Could that be the older camera / lens that I'm using?

Not in my opinion. Must be the film and/or scan. Have you got the negs back? Seeing them would give you an idea of how well exposed they are. If underexposed then scanning won’t have been at the ideal settings and might have introduced the grain/noise.

Guess a more trained eye might be able to differentiate between film grain and digital noise?

I'm trying to remember now, such a rookie move but I didn't make note of the fecking films. One was definitely Kodak UltraMax 400, another was some very expired Kodak Colour 200. And I am drawing a complete blank with the BnW. I thought it was HP5, but looking at them now I'm guessing it must have been another heavily expired hand-me-down roll from a friend. The expired rolls I did overexpose by 1 stop (roughly), but maybe they needed more. He did literally scoop them from a dusty bowl in his kitchen and hand them to me. God knows how long they'd been sat there.

While on the subject of grainy images here's another from my last roll of Portra 800 🙂

Expired film also can lead to grainy images.. partly because expired film needs a bit more light, and if you don't shoot accordingly you get a bit of underexposure, which in turn adds grain as @M_V said.. the brick wall one you posted kinda looks like expired Kodak Color 200

Finally got a Mamiya RZ67, but damn it’s big.

Bronica is tiny next to it.

The viewfinder mount for it looks like it has fungas in it, got quoted £120 to repair it but you can find them for about the same money.

Should I just use it and ignore the fungas or can it spread to the lense?

Gonna shoot a roll through it this weekend to check it works as it was kinda in a job lot and sold as not work, but checking it is firing and stuff seems ok. So fingers crossed it works
