Anyone visited Lisbon recently? I'd like to shoot some film, but don't know if the airport has CT scanners. Alternatively, is there somewhere lufguss approved for film purchasing and developing/scanning in Lisbon? I note Lisbon has a Carmencita branch there.

Got the digital scans back from the test roll after fixing the light seals on the XA2. Over the moon with the results.

Plan is to take the XA2 on my summer cycling tour, so very happy it's working.

Actually the only point and shoot I have left (after having had like a dozen of them a couple years ago) is a Pentax Espio Mini, that's where my mum lives though and I use it just for family snapshots when on vacation.

Revived the SLR though and bought a nice 30mm recently.
Not having shot anything but phone the last couple years it's great fun to have a proper camera (and lens) in my hands again for a change 🙂

Kodak Portra 400.

Yes, it's rather pricey, but it's worth it in my opinion (and given what you pay for developing / scans / prints it doesn't really matter whether the roll of film is a couple bucks more).
It's a very versatile film (can handle a lot of different situations / exposure doesn't need to be perfect and images will still look great, got amazing colours and is the best for skin tones).

I've only used Ilford XP2 (B&W) in my XA2 - cheaper to process and has always come out really really well.

Okay, coming back to that dreadful roll of Lomography Metropolis on the previous page (LINK). I went back to my photoguy today to drop off some film and asked him about his opinion. He immediately asked me whether I had taken it on a plane.
I read about the danger of X-rays and CTs in airports but never had any actual trouble with it. I thought it was more of a snobby thing professional photographers or hipsters talk about. A few of my films went through multiple airport scans without causing any (to me visible) trouble or artefacts.
My photoguy coincidently used to work for Lomography and pointed something out I didn't pay attention to at all.
Lomography film spools and cartridges are made of plastic. Your regular Kodak Gold and many others have metal cartridges which makes them a lot more resistant to any X-ray or CT damage.
So it seems like I fried that film already when I bought it in the States and brought it bag with me in my luggage.

Mine was hand luggage not hold luggage and seemed to hold up ok. But guess not worth taking any Lomo on holiday in future..

When they are new they are wrapped in some silver plastic foil. Not sure if that has any protective characteristics.

Back in the day I always told them I had delicate / expensive film with me and asked them to check it by hand (and they did, usually), last couple of years they told me everything has to go through the machine now, but "today's x-rays aren't as strong as the old ones, so it won't be a problem, at least if it's not over ISO 800".
The thing is though you will even fry ISO 100 film if you take it with you repeatedly - so better avoid it altogether of course (also not sure what kind of scanners they are using in the US)..

The new scanners in airports are a lot stronger and there seems to be a thing growing that they are ruining film even lower iso stuff but getting them hand checked is now impossible as they will just not do it!

Speaking of film on aeroplanes I did just buy some Fuji Superia Premium 400 from amazon.jp -

A friend has just gifted me an old film camera, and a couple of rolls of very expired film. Do I still shoot at the film iso, or is it worth going up or down a couple of stops to account for the age?

Overexpose by one stop per decade is the rule of thumb

Just managed to get my film hand checked at the airport. They called a special security guy. He told me it should be safe according to the manufacturer but still agreed. Did the explosives test.
So seems like it’s still worth asking.
