  • Love the Ricoh shots

  • Love the billiards table, I can smell it.

  • yeah this ^ love it

  • Echoing the above, love the atmosphere of the billiards room. Also enjoying the first one, do like a good shopfront!

  • Thank you all! My favourite from the whole roll.

  • Just developed a few candid shots from a weekend away between lockdowns last year.

All on Fomapan 400 with a Nikon FM2n.

  • Love the bottom 3. Really nice

  • I've always shot portra, 400/160, but obviously the prices seem to be going up and up silly amounts every time I buy rolls... What are recommendations for the next best comparable 35mm colour? Mostly outdoor, holiday snaps etc, usually people/portraits.
    Thanks!

  • If it's people / portraits for the most part then the "next best" is a tough choice, as all others are definitely a step down when it comes to natural, nuanced skin tones.
This doesn't mean you can't shoot nice portraits with cheaper film - but likely you will need to try and error what works for you.
Check out the portrait pictures in flickr pools of films like Kodak Gold 200 or Fuji C200 (or whatever film is available at a good price where you are) to get some impressions..

  • That's useful, cheers

  • Anyone want a R1 i have one at the back of a drawer not doing anything and gathering dust.

  • Would be interested depending on price

  • Went sailing, it was alright despite all the tories once we’d moored up.

  • Haven't brought any film in a little while, and just having checked now, prices have skyrocketed, and availability is down. Some chancers are trying to sell Colorplus for £12 a roll now.

Is this the new reality? Was hoping to shoot some colour film on an upcoming holiday, however I'll probably slink back to my Fuji digitals.

  • £6 a roll at Bristol Cameras but like you said, availability is the issue. When they have stock I usually grab a ten pack

  • is this the new reality?

    yep :(

  • Had a look at AG Photographic and they have 5 rolls of Ektar and 8 rolls of Portra 800, and that's it for colour neg.

I do wonder if it's worth starting to sell some of my more expensive film cameras, now film (at least colour) seems to be dying a slow death.
