I like them.
I agree the car and ink shots could be closer for semi-abstraction, drama and general lols.

Thanks a lot for the words, definitely still trying to master my craft if you will, and trying to stick to shooting stuff I find interesting. I have missed out on a couple shots that I would have loved to have got on film where I didn't have my camera so now always try have it on me, and have also totally fucked 4 shots of one individual in the summer which I regret every day, due to not knowing my way around a new camera.....It's deffo easy to get ahead of yourself and keep wanting to shoot on something better and new.
Haha I'm always telling myself to get closer, couldn't think of a better rule myself. Thanks for the words both, i'll get out there some more and stick the camera in the face of the people.

Shoot a lot. Always have a camera on you, ideally in your hand.
Learn how to use the thing so you don't waste time fiddling around.
Use a simple camera for starters, in general keep it simple.Have been doing a lot of this over the past few weeks and it's quite liberating.
Using a Canon P rangefinder, f11 1/125s during the day, f1.8 1/60s at night; focus at 12ft and shoot away. First time I've felt that the camera hasn't got in the wayCanon P, 50mm f1.8. 1,3,4,5 - HP5 @1600, 2 - Tri-X @ 1600

Anyone recommend somewhere/someone who could do a quick and cheap CLA of the shutter in this? It only cost me £25 so I'm not that keen on spanking hundreds on taking it to Sendean again...

Yeah... nostalgic for those days!

^^ relatedly - I want to take my Leica M3 for a general service, and someone to look at the rangefinder (not sure it's calibrated properly). Last had it done maybe 10 years ago, at Red Dot. Wasn't impressed, want to go somewhere else. Any recommendations? London.

Aperture Photographic in the West End for all your servicing needs
-
• #18544
^^^^
Not had anything serviced by them, but bought from them. Seem like nice guys with reasonable prices (for the west end...)
-
• #18545
also rate aperture, recently CLA'd my Mamiya 7 for £125+VAT which I thought was fair.
-
• #18546
Did that include any parts? Are their CLA prices the same for every camera?
-
• #18547
it depends on camera, mine didnt need any parts.

I did this to my mju ii as well, fell out of my pocket whilst cycling for the third time. Now it just tries to pick up and wind forward a new roll constantly.
It reminded me though that I have this! It's a bit of a chunky boi comparison but I found some old flicks that I shot with it - not half bad! Dropping in some rolls for dev tomorrow including one from this.

Chucked the thing in a warm oven for 30mins to see if that might loosen things up, which worked while it was hot, but then gradually stuck again
Carrying an oven around with me, that's feasible, right?

Oh nice. Yeh think im gonna hunt down a AF1. it cheaper tha way
Looking good for a start, just keep going.

Like stick to one kind of film for a few months.
The grass is always fucking greener on the other side and that's very true with photography.
Fuck it. Get film you can afford and that you like for whatever reason and just shoot.
Don't believe the hype.
Shoot what interests you and keep going, from time to time take a break and look at your stuff.
Get a grip on what you think your good shots are - and why.
Fuck what everybody and their mother is doing, instead use your gut and do your thing.
Remember only amateurs bitch about equipment, the advanced shooters worry about what's in the fucking picture, and the pros worry about the light.
Oh, and get fucking closer.
Have fun!
