    No, 6'0" with a 3'0" inside leg.

  • Last year, when I was over in London I bought a Cannondale Supersix in Evans.
I'd been watching it for a while on their website as it had £500 off and they had it listed with Mavic Ksyrium SL wheel instead of the standard Ksyrium Elite.
So, when in London I took one (with Elite wheels) for a test ride - it was amazing, perfect size and like no bike I'd ridden. On returning to the shop I asked them to check stock as I wanted to order online to get the free shipping back to Belfast. There were 2 left - the one I had ridden and one other. I then pointed out the wheel set difference... both bikes had Elite wheels - they said that it was an error on the website - BUT, if I wanted to buy it there and then they would swap the wheels and ship it to Belfast at no extra charge.

Three days later I was riding my lovely Supersix. Bargain! and for that reason I've had fantastic experience with Evans cycles :-)

  • You can buy anything that in theory you could ride to work on. This would include any complete bike, even DH/BMX etc, and any accessories that could be used i.e. helmets, pump, lights, clothing etc.

You cannot buy custom upgrade components, so BMX parts are out, and stuff like turbo trainers, car racks, energy products are also not allowed.

So I guess buying a £25 child's bike and an £800 disc is a no no then?

Bugger! I have too many bikes, but want to get some bits, and work will only do evans ride2work :-(

  • Anyone on here going down there?

A mate of mine is after an OTP SS so we're going to get down there and criuse back. It could be interesting if there were a load of new bikes riding back to Lah'dan!

  • does this happen the same time every year? i say this because it looks like its advertised to happen in 2008.

  • i thought it happens about every 3 or 4 years.. i missed the last one - but its not a v regular thing.

  • 2008...pity...

  • Nah, there are flyers about it in Evans at the moment - didn't pick one up though so not sure of dates

  • In fact, http://www.evanscycles.com/news-and-events/warehouse-clearance-sale

    6-14 June

Ah, I got the wrong dates, but it is on this year.

  • bargains aplenty by the looks of things. cheers for the heads up.

  • I remember one last year being mentioned here... did anyone go?

  • how cheap are we talking here?
    1/2 off or what?

  • thats what i was thinking...is it worth the £6 train journey down?

  • it says save up to 80% on their web site!

  • Wank... wish I could be over for that, looks like there are some serious bargains to be had!!

  • does anyone know how to get there,
because I don't have any car to drive there,
    thanks a lot.

  • piece of piss to get there, you just have to cycle via redhill and horley, or catch the train to gatwick or crawley.

  • brilliant! my mate works there. emails

  • piece of piss to get there, you just have to cycle via redhill and horley, or catch the train to gatwick or crawley.

there's a free bus service from Gatwick if i remember correctly. Or there was about 2 years ago.

  • hooray my home town gets a mention on LFGSS- born in Redhill, grew up in Horley!!

Now live in Cornwall tho (much nicer)

  • I got my old plug there for £300 instead of £400 which was pretty good considering it was that years model. There were defiantly bargains a plenty if you wanted big chunky complicated looking mountain bikes, plenty of clothes and other little odds and sods as too. If you are hoping for fg/ss stuff I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

Also get there EARLY, I rolled up about 10.30am and ended up queuing for 2 hours to get in.

  • Apparently there's loads of ex demo bikes n stuff. Am planning on driving in case I find that bargain i can't resist.

  • There was a thread on another forum re this sale when it last happened.

Apparently the VERY early people got a few good deals (we're talking first few hours), but then after that nothing of any worth actually buying was reduced anywhere near the 80% reduction they advertise.

A lot of people said that it wasn't worth the journey down there and you're much better off scouring the 'net.

personally... I was tempted, but knowing Evans aren't massive on their 'deals' and 'offers', I think I might stay at home!
