I agree, The ReFuse was the most comfortable puncture resistance tyres for the money despite being quite heavy.

the nicest tyre , i got the longest wear out of , was a durano S.
the durano pluses make any bike feel like a tank.
indestructable. but fuck me. good training tyre. -

Vittoria Randoneur 26" at Decathlon, £18 for 2. Various width. Le Manfriend has a pair in 700C no punctures seem to last for ages.

I really hate the regular randonneurs.

Jeez Gatorskins really are shit in the wet, it's either that or I'm not used to 25mm.
-
• #1432
I found them a bit slippy when I used them a few years back but the worst part was that I got punctures with them. Maybe I was unlucky but I don't put them anywhere near the anti-puncture category in my experience.
-
• #1433
^ were they hardshells? that seems to be the bit people miss when others talk about gatorskins being puncture proof.
-
• #1434
They were not hardshells no. However, puncture resistant to me means to the level I don't take a repair kit with me. Have used Conti Supersport plus for a few months now which fit into that category and I just put up with the 430g of weight.

Bit of both I reckon, a bit sketchy on some wet descents over here (with a brake) but not as bad as some other tyres.
You got them on wide rims Ed?
-
• #1436
They're reasonably puncture resistant, but still get cut up like a regular tyres.
Standard rims, can only go down to 90psi on the rear which felt a bit crap.

Gators are crap in wet.
Get Grand Prix. Long lasting, good in wet, very puncture resistant. Best all round tyre out there. Cheap too.

I'v got 25mm gatorskin hardshells on my bike and I've had some sketchy moments cornering.

Can only comment on Gatorskin Tubulars which resisted the Glassbin errr...Road bravely for 2 weeks and then I got a tiny p_n_ctr
I'm not one for mad cornering though I've had no issues so far. For Tubs brigade these seem to be one of the most resistant options. Very few things stop wet glass however...
Got some GP4000S which I am going to try once I have my clincher wheels built. Yay.

what are people's experiences of Soma everwears in the rain?
Slipped and fell hard riding a gatorskin in the rain so looking at alternatives -

Very good, super grippy once worn in.

Argh - 6 in 5 days!! Using the Bontrager Race Lites..... It's a new commute of 15miles from Fleet to Guildford and there seems to be a shedload more debris on the roads out here in the 'Shires' than back in town.
Clearly I need to look at either a more heavy-weight option or what are people's opinions on tubeless?
At work at the moment and so haven't had a chance to read through this thread and others in a comprehensive manner so my apologies if this topic has already been directly addressed.

Ride further away from the kerbs to start with and see what happen.

^
in the past couple of weeks i've noticed a huge increase in the amount of glass in the "cycle lanes" blue or otherwise. couple of days ago while crossing waterloo bridge southbound there were two massive piles and a delicate scattering all the way until the bus stop. what the fuck is going on?
so i just ride more into the road. fuckers seem to undertake me a lot but not so many punctures.

Drunks offering their glass to the God of Transport before hopping onto the bus.

Any suggestions for MTB tyres (26") mainly for winter road commuting, canal towpaths and a bit of light off-roading (so not totally slick but not full-on knobblies and hopefully reasonably puncture-proof). Cheers

DMR Motos. Not sure if you want something a bit skinnier though for long distances.

DMR motos are mega draggy, would go maxxis holy roller rather than them, or 26" paselas?
-
• #1450
Is there much difference between folding and wire bead hardshells? Worth theextra tenner?
maxxis refuse are the best i've found for comfort with an ability to last a bit of skidding
