I'm sorry to hear that toby, hope it all works out

Thanks Henry, i'll email them some pics and see what they say.

  • Toby, sell it to me for a fiver.

    Its fate.

    Accept it.

I'm sorry for your loss. And move on.
    x

Ha ha...... just think yourself lucky i didn't sell it to you a few weeks back! Can you imagine the guilt!?!?!?! :(

  • I'm going to sulk alllllllllll day......

I think that's allowed. You could probably even stretch to sulking for the weekend too.

  • As far as I know armourtec don't do steel work at all, just powder coating. In all honesty they are a nice bunch but if I was wanting a new brazed in I'd go for a specialist frame builder as suggested above. I'd def get it repaired.

  • Can you imagine the guilt!?!?!?! :(

  • Don't know if i can? If it can be repaired i'll go the whole hog and have the dent fixed at the same time as a lovely re-spray... anyone got any advice on repairing this crack? Would love to keep him as it's the nicest frame i've ever had :(

Call Vaz and find out how much his brother will do it for... He works at Chaz Roberts workshop, dontchaknow... Could work out cheap(ish)...

  • Damn... Sorry to hear it Toby...

Did you colour the lugwork in with a felt tip....

  • Tis a bit wobbly in places. But it is quite old..

    Am still fed up :(

  • hi bobob , excuse my callousness at this sad time but my stan butler special doesn't have forks ? what were you using up front on your steed ? if you don't consider repairing it would you have the forks for sale ? what was the ride like ? nice and stiff ? wobbly as a 753 ? mine is about a week or so away from hitting the road and want to know how it will ride !! i've had it lying around for 5 months now getting bits and pieces together for it. am hoping it will br a nice smooth ride for a bit of polo and a wet weather fixed ride.
once again sorry to hear about your loss.

I was about to conjure up some Bobob Guilt images, but gave up... Poor frame that was due to be mine.

It was (sob) a lovely stiff ride (is it just me or does that read a bit saucy??), i always said the frame was a little too small for me but it took bumps and curbs in it's stride and when powering off it held it's stance and took no prisoners. Compared to my alloy bianchi which can be likened to jelly, it was ten times better.

The forks i have are lovely, they have been drilled (not by me) but are lovely double bridged track forks which unfortunately i will be keeping as am going to try and repair the old bugger.

Just a quick pic.... i must look away now as will sob uncontrolably....

  • Toby, Meant to ask you at the last south beers what brake you're running on the Stan... Reach is quite long isn't it? Is it an old Weinmann? I need something similar for my Mercian...

  • Yeah it's exactly that, i may be able to find you one.... i might suprise you on Monday ;)

Ooh, I love surprises! I'll be in Spain tho'... If you find one you aren't using could you leave it with Snowy? I'll remunerate you when I next see ya... Cheers dude! :)

  • Robert Rauschenberg yesterday and now Stan, its all to much. My thoughts are with you.
Might put some flowers on the lamp post .

  • sad stuff toby, sad indeed.

but reading the thread looks like it might not be beyond repair. vaz's bruv did some welding work on my bike - v cheap. might be worth chatting to ross at brixton too.

hope it wasn't due to the heavier Rolls saddle - cos then i will be feeling guilty ;)

Vaz's bruv'll be way cheaper, I know cuz Ross was gonna fix the headtube on my Mercian for a lot more than I wound up paying Vaz... I'm sure Ross would do an amazing job tho', if he had the time/inclination...

I think it was the saddle, FEEL THE GUILT!!!!! ;)

  • alas i will now be on foot :(

:-( sad about bike, sad about foot transport. I can offer you a loan of the claud butler tourer if you want something to get about on? It was my dad's and he was biggern you so you'll be grand on it if you want to borrow just PM me.

  • Ahh thanks Stelle, you're a superstar :)

I'm gonna try and resurrect the Bianchi this weekend, if that doesn't work i may just call on you x

  • Aw, hard lines. It was looking so nice, too. Did the frame try to communicate the impending break with creaks and groans or did it just go without warning?

  • No warning at all... it still rides absolutely fine too... i only noticed it this morning when locking it up, it must of started with a tiny fracture and as i've been riding her pretty hard recently, just given up the ghost, gonna ride her home tonight and then strip it down :(

  • sorry to see this toby :( is no good. maybe also give argos a ring? all the repair/respray work i've seen from them looks really good. condolences.
