methinks Vans would have a better impact with this using their shoes on fixed wheel bicycle, and also closer to their root (BMXs).

The seamless ones work well with clips+straps (c) Teenslain
But yes I wore some lows on Monday and realised very quickly was a bad move.

Agreed, Dunks are generally shit for everything

Vans are relaunching their step in shoe range, with designs that are basically versions of their skate shoes with recesses for cleats . . . prob be a lot better than the nike efforts

At the risk of sounding pretty shit, i've always thought that nike rifts (split toes) would make ace cycling shoes if they put a stiff sole/spd cleats on em?
My mate was at nike hq last week and reckoned the shoe designers are getting well pissed off at just how much dunks are getting pushed and pushed at the expense of new designs etc.

That's fightin' talk where I come from... ;)
I found AJ1s are great with clips and straps, but a little too precious for daily use and Dunks feel a bit too chunky in the toe to me... And don't get me started on AF1s, pisses me off I can't ride in them! Hate to say it, but Cons and Vans are perfect, I guess they're a bit of a fixed-gear cliche for a good reason... :| -

Rifts would never work on pedals, too much movement on the ball of the foot, plus be a nightmare if you slotted the edge of the pedal in the slit between your toes!
They were made to be just like a layer on the ball of the feet. Originally made in '92 for the Ethiopian Olympic marathon team as they weren't allowed to run barefoot
I still have an original '92 pair collecting dust in my flat! :-) -

I love rifts, they're easily the comfiest trainers i've worn. look a bit chav now but when i first saw the early grey ones i thought they were bloody ace. just making a start on my keyhole tanlines at the moment, by the end of summer the tops of my feet should look pretty gruesome.

It's all about the OCG okwahns for clips n straps. Vans are way too soft for me. The little layer above the gum sole is a tough plastic-y stuff, loads of stiffness. Those clown shoes below look like they'll be flexy.

For my clips and straps its all about these bad boys:
I just wish I had that fluororescent bike to match:

I think that pumas are the best for clip and straps,
i usually ride in the puma match but they are mostly all the same shape, nice long slim, toe section to get strapped in.AF 1s, AF 2s, terminators air trainers, vandals, blazers have all been pretty bad from my experience,
plus i dont like riding in my good shoeees -
