Sorry guys I had to bail. The gearing was just ridiculous and after bronchitis I didn't have the puff to keep the road runner style pedalling up after getting stopped at some lights. So I stopped, coughed up some ectoplasm and headed back. But I did see a friend I hadn't seen for ages on the way back and went for a nice beer.
New sprocket will be on ready for next week.
Nice to meet you all, if only briefly. And see, I do exist in the real world.

Oh and I'll HTFU.

Was really nice to finally meet you J , apologies for the Speedkings who set off at a cracking pace. We did wait for you but at Addenbrookes but was a few turns off . Unfortunately it is a social ride and people should not be left behind . I blame Rick . And Anders .Not me , i'm the nice one. You don't need any HTFUing cos this is Cambridge where people are genteel, quaint and chivalrous . Hope your Lungs sort out soon dude .

No I was outside the usual bounds of acceptability, it was embarrassing to be honest. I couldn't get any speed at all. Between being ill and waiting for parts that was her first proper ride and it was quickly apparent that she wasn't ready. Longer, layback seatpost and my new sprocket should have her sorted for this coming Thurs. Was fun while it lasted though! Will definitely be back for me, I can see fun ahead.
PS. I could tell you were the nice one, can't say the same for those other ruffians.

Methinks you are showing signs of Merckx-like perfectionism Fazered. Did you remember to adjust your saddle 5 times or so before riding?
Sorry about your lungs though... that can't be good. Oh and I blame Rick...

you watched the film then!

I blame Rick

RV,
Have you lazy bastards finally played bike polo? -
• #114
Anyone stick any new tricks? Wheelies? Pop-ups? Leg over skids?
-
• #115
Hi Aaron .............No developments on the polo front , i've got to make more mallets and have been too lazy to go down to the end of my garden . Without your dynamism the Evil Cunts have developed severe lethargy . We've only got 3 mallets and 2 of them are owned by individuals that never come out on thursdays anyway .

Not gonna be out tonight as I am off to see a gig in London. See you next week!
-
• #117
Not sure if I'll make it tonight. Thought I was going to pick up my new parts from the post office this morning but it turned out to be a dress for my girlfriend. So disappointing.
And Carl Craig is playing at the Fez, rare a legend of Techno frequents these parts. So don't think I'll see you guys.
Unless the part arrive during the day. Then I'll get my ass out for a quick ride.

fazered: carl craig is going to be massive - i'm on the concessions list but probably not going due to boxing :(

Ok this is hard for me. I'm a both a huge fan of boxing and techno. So it should be a hard decision for me. However as it's a thursday night and the card isn't even on Boxrec UK Schedule so we're talking grass roots boxing. So it's "World Class Techno vs Grass Roots Boxing" which I'm sorry is monumental mismatch.
Right I just found what I assume you're going to watch. The Cambridge University Pre Varsity Boxing v Armed Forces (East of England). A warm up for the varsity match? Come on! That doesn't beat Carl Craig. And the tickets are only £15 in the first place so you can't be making much of a saving. Unless you're getting the dinner tickets in which case I'll shut up.
If you don't go you'll miss me dancing like an epileptic windmill. A treat indeed.

to be honest, i might do both as it will still be a particulary cheap but awesome knees up..
main course, a warm bed of amateur boxing atop a crisp blood-stained salad served with free drink gratin, followed by chocolate techno cheesecake with strawberries and more drink.

• #121
I think that recipe is in the new Jamie Oliver book. Actually with all that drinking it's more likely to be a Keith Floyd recipe.
-
• #122
PS. Do both.
-
• #123
do you go to many of the priory nights on in town?
as i'm now doing both, i'm going to cycle in to town tonight to drink, how ironic... -
• #124
From the very first way back at the Man on the Moon pub. James (The Fish) is a best friend and Sam and George are very very very good friends (Not enjoying this quantifying friendships lark.) So I'm at a lot of them but not all as work is number one. However this one wins. Carl Craig is special and I've been pushing them to book him for a very long time. Can't believe it's finally here. I'm planning to gush all over him, hope he's wearing wipe proof clothing.
Did I meet you last Thursday? If not I wonder if we know each other?

don't normally do the thurs night things, but was there to see weatherall and radioactive man recently!
cambridge is so small i bet we have met, or at least know of each other - you weren't at the mill road partay the week before last were you?
Paris - Roubaix? that reminds me:
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
In parts 1- 11, you'll need to set aside some time... Enjoy!
