Cambridge Thursdays Social Ride

Every Thursday evening at 6.30 pm starting from around Park street Car Park, Cambridge, ending at the Maypole pub next door for a warm down cider/lager/argument.

Rick of Bicycle Ambulance runs a bike workshop in the bike park in the basement and from 6.30 onwards everyone pisses about near the car park,or at the Maypole until he finally packs up and we can get moving and generally forget to tell anyone where we're all going.
Usually about 7 or so fixed riders (sometimes more,, 21 last week) of varied fitness and ability in stopping, taking routes of up to 20 miles ( sometimes more) around surrounding villages depending on daylight and last orders in the Maypole.
Its a social event not a race , not exclusively for alcoholics , all welcome .

I'm in.. Cant do this thurs. But will aim to get down next thursday.

Romford is the East end of the East end . Come down for thurs-fix , i've been going up to Ely on the train with my girlfriend in the evenings and cycling back as she is a member of a roller derby team that practices up there on fridays .

So whats the deal, is this still going ahead? It's fucking hammering it down :/

If that pic isn't you then hello all the same. Is this thursday ride still going on? I'd def. be up for joining in. I had some polo going w/ some fixie friends on parker's piece last summer, but they've move away and I haven't managed to get anything going yet. I've already got about 6 or 8 mallets from last year. I've got a couple of friends who are in the process of building up their first fix, so that's more fodder for the polo. I think I've sorted who's who a bit better now. I should be clearer who I'm talking to. I am indeed the Aaron that's a friend of Sam (from AZ). As far as the mallets go..... they're pvc pipe for the shaft and then wood timber that's been shaved down to a reasonable shape for the head. They work pretty well although i'm sure they're not ideal, but they can be modified as desired to improve them.... we went through a couple different designs last summer. Also have a hard hockey ball and some mini footballs as well that we played w/.... really depends on the surface and the amount of space you've got which works better....
Looking forward to meeting everyone.... Is there a ride on for thursday? or polo?
