vegans and vegetarians don't need to ride Brooks. Only exception, I meant to include that earlier.
db, you can paint your white, if that's not an option already. As a sidenote, it's probably better to ride leather than to ride petrochemical containing/produced man-made materials. Better for the whole earth (incl animals) not just the animals. Just a brainstorm.
Are you trying to bait me into a rant :]

With reference to Roxy comments regarding petrochemicals, I agree wholly that they are not ideal and are in fact, through various effects on the planet, contributing the the scarily inevitable downfall of our plant (As a species we're fucking cunts).
My question would be where should I, in your opinion, draw the line?
"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegan" denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.
The grey area would be surrounding humans. The general Vegan opinion is that we are animals too thus the ideology extends to not harming humans. I'm aware that usage of Petrochemicals is doing just that but am left without an alternative short of using animal by products. If you ever see my affinity lopro it has a second hand leather saddle which Murtle was kind enough to give to me as he knew I wouldn't buy a new one. This was due to a conversation regarding our favourite saddles and I mentioned that I couldn't replace the one I had stolen.
With reference to the brooks sponsorship and provision of a saddle to each player. I'd be left with two options from my personal point of view. Either I could give the saddle to somebody for free (I wouldn't sell it as that would contribute to profiting from the exploitation of animals) or keep it until I kill the current saddle and effectively freegan it.
I personally believe that wastage is more insulting to life than simple killing. To kill something and then use it is far more beneficial to the planet than kill something then dump it.
As a totally random way to finish this mini-rant. Are you all aware that Milk derived Lactose is added during the production of almost all rubbers. Hence Tyres are not vegan.

your labyrinthine explorations of things that concern you ethically are always impressive, Object. And yes I would love that saddle if you decide option one is where you need to be..;)
Roxy what a coup. Amazing, heavyweight sponsorship.
You think I could practice for six weeks by myself with a mallet and a ball and it would be at all worthwhile (ie roll up on the 17th and play effectively?)
I have to leave London town for most of July and August, sadly when I am just getting fixed up and thinking about starting the Sunday polo...

My morals are easily diluted into one simple concept. By the time that I die I'd like to leave the smallest possible mark on this planet.
It's for these reasons that I will not consider procreation, would never lapse to a diet including animal produce and do not believe in accumulation of anything that is not useful to me on a frequent basis. Minimal belongings, freecycling what is surplus.
It's not always the easiest way to live but it give me satisfaction knowing that I am capable of doing more than the average person.
Contrary to many vegans I know I do not take the upper moral hand. I make my choices and live by them. I would never expect someone else to adopt my ethics. Each to their own. -

yeah I know dude - and I was serious, it sounds daft but when someone is thinking about what beer they drink and what tyres involve it's impressive, even more so when they can sit next to someone eating whatever they please and be cool with it.
back to polo - I was serious about this idea of me practising like some overweight Daniel-San of street polo... is it something that can be worked on effectively in solitude?

Dude turn up on Sunday and just play. It's addictive as hell.
As for me. I know you were serious. I take it as a compliment.

Thank you very much, yeah, it's been months in the making.
And as O said, show up today to poloAs for O, holy cr*p I'd love to have this conversation genuinely (and as a veggie myself who thought a lot about the Brooks sponsorship before agreeing), but I need to focus on the other aspects of the tournament and overall Brooks is one of rare independent local companies that has maintained quality while trying to expand their reach, and their reputation of building quality, is well, supporting the asses of thousands of cyclists of all kinds. On top of that, and as far as not accumulating for the sake of it and minimal impact, buy one Brooks saddle and you can have it for life and never NEED another one. Cycling or otherwise I can't think of many products these days where you can say the same.
Ok, so IMPORTANT, PLEASE LOOK HERE:
If you are entering a team, great to put it here to let others now, BUT you need to email me with your team name, team mates, and all 3 email addresses.
