I could be up for this, but it depends on the book sooo much. Know what the first book is going to be?

i dont know, depending on how many people are interested we will have to find a way to pick books, if there is only a few of us then we could each pick one in a rotation, or we could nominate, ones, and work our way through the nominations. what ever people think is best

Did this ever happen?

i didn't know about this but I would really be up for this..

Yea, me too. I love books, but rarely read them unless i have a 'reason' to. Oh, and the random bump came from my searching for cycling club threads.

I read a brilliant cycling book last year, whose title I now can't remember.
I passed it on to hillbilly, we discussed the idea of just passing it on and signing it as it went.
I think Katt was going to be the next reader.
Jim, you still got it or have you passed it on to someone? -

Should be done by Spring!
EDIT - I am interested in the club. -

Did this ever happen?
no, I moved to NYC, that reminds me, I need to start a book club here.

ok so instead of at a pub if there is only going to be 5 or 6 of us could we maybe consider each person hosting it at their house combined with food? I would do this, our house is big and the kitchen is massive for those who don't fancy cooking we could jsut order take aways..

jacqui, i would like to do this too, and i really like your idea. let's make it happen!
-
• #22
i would love to if i knew where i was going to be ever haha.
if I may suggest an amazing book to kick start your club though:
"Savage Detectives" by Roberto Bolano.
also:
"Been down to so long it looks like up to me" by Richard Farina
and if anyone is feeling like not a novel per se then the Crimethinc books are definitely worth a read
"days of war, nights of love" and "expect resistance" (read them in that order)

Nice idea Jacqui, I'm in

I would be a terrible (ill-disciplined reader with lots on the go) but enthusiastic participant in this... so do it, and I'll just observe instead and make notes of all the books I need to read the next time I'm travelling.

Ok I will host the first one. Suggestion of dates?
Tuesday 10th of Feb or the 17th? I've no idea what a book club is supposed to do... are we all going to read the same one, or are we going to read different ones and swap?
so the two book threads show that a lot of people have interesting taste in books, so i was thinking how about a book club. read a book a month, meet in a pub to discuss it, and pick the next months. Any interest? List?
