It's made with Yorkshire water off the moors, so they used to say, and lots of people reckoned it was better for it. I find I often have had terrible hangovers from their beer, though i always liked their own-label fancy bottled lagers a lot, not tasteless like a lot of 'lager'.

For real ale and wheat beers they're pretty good value for money.

When I first came to London to study, my department used to drink at the Lyceum on the Strand, a Sam Smith's pub. I was shocked by the beer, especially the supposed imitations of German beer, natch. I've had Sam Smith's again since on occasions when it's been unavoidable, but I really can't remember liking anything I've ever drunk from them.
