  • Alright there. I've had a search round this forum and the internet but couldn't find anything good enough.

I was wondering where everyone gets their bike parts from? Like online stores or real shops or whatever.

Specifically I'm looking for things like these wheels... SNC13029 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!@@AMEPARAM@@http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3016/2313597140_d5b69535d0.jpg?v=0@@AMEPARAM@@2313597140@@AMEPARAM@@d5b69535d0

    Cheers
    Phil

  • Arrospok?
    fiddy dorras.

    Or

    aerojoke
If you have the money spend it.
If not, buy a regular wheelset, which is less expensive and stronger (and i don't think I'm wrong in saying occasionally lighter), and IMHO a lot nicer to look at.

  • brick lane bikes is a great shop and have aerospokes in stock

  • i'm gonna trust you're talking about the rear wheel...please say you're talking about the rear wheel...

  • I'm going to achieve a state through meditation, chemicals or surgery whereby I can no longer see, hear, read through braille or even comprehend the word fixie.

  • What's a fixie?

  • Haha didn't realise you were all cocks!

Yes I meant the front wheel.
    Cheers for the links.

In a stiffness test (deflection measurement) of 140 wheels - from Rolf Vectors to Spinergy, from Shamal to Bontrager Racelight - Aerospoke come dead last.

It is simply the flexiest wheel out there.

It is also amongst the heaviest.

    Example:

    Front Aerospoke 1200g
Stiffer, Cheaper and more readily available DT Swiss Mon Chasseral Front 660g

It is worth noting that flexy heavy wheels are slow wheels.

Eyebrows is right in saying that of you want a lighter, stiffer, faster and cheaper wheel a - regular build would be best.

If you are after the look of the thing (and I also think they can look great on the right kind of bike) go for something like a Hed3 (the thinking man's arrospokā„¢) - more expensive but you get performance as well as having a nice looking wheel.

this is weird, i was looking for asomewhere appropriate to ask this question in all seriousness, being a fairly new boy to the forum world myself i think its worth asking and t=this seems as appropriate as any oplace i found what with philxthomas only joining today..... how long do you have to be here posting before you can make fun of people who you have never met without it being taken as offensive? i did post something before which in hindsight made me sound rude so i was just wondering ya know? cos there is a member whos name is just asking to be mentioned i think.

  • depends, how good are you in a fist fight?

we all tend to meet up every week or so and bash out our differences, in a pub car park.

  • . . . often naked, some of us bring tools.

  • its an on running joke about aerospokes.
they are, however, overpriced and poorly made.
They do look nice (IMHO, but again, not as nice as a regular wheel build- there's a reason it has been with us for such a long time)
    BLB do have them.

oh and whatfriends- I think the appropriate time is 2 minutes after joining ;)

Most of us try and be helpful- I'm always willing to help for sure, having gone through a couple of hellish builds myself.

It was a nightmare getting all those bones . . . . some forum members where up all hours of the night trawling through London's cemeteries looking for those forks.

  • Put up, what up, BO BO BO!
Suckers want to flow but they got no show
So I'm a grab the bike, flip a script, and leave ya stunned
Whatfriends the one that gets the job done.

    and later

im a rugged operator like arnold schwarzeneger.

but i dont drink or live in london so probably wont get the opportunity play that game, however, stop me if you see me riding during my weekend visits and i'll beat you in a game of mercy. yep. challenge right there.

Two words : Harry Rowland. Now fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

  • I was simply asking about those wheels as i like the look of them, I'm not gonna go buy one tomorrow or anything, and I get people flaming me for using the word 'fixie'.

I didn't realise the aerospokes were disliked so much as I see a lot of them on 'FixedGear' galleries.

So why do people use them? Also, what happens when you go over a bump and a normal wheel would buckle? Do they explode or something?

  • end it.

    end it ALL now

i am in the process of ending it actually. but i just thought i would take my time about it. slowly slowly and all that.

  • I tell you what, a decent bottle of red, two jars of paracetamol, warm bath, your most favourite album and a sharp razor ain't the worst way to go...

  • did you forget i dont drink.

  • well it's hardly going to matter is it!

I don't expect you O/D on painkillers every day either..

    live a little

  • well i suppose it has been over two years since i took a painkiller so maybe i'll put it in the ideas book in case i fancy speeding up the whole shabang. thanks. see you arn't all cocks on here. some people are genuinely helpful and sharing.

On going forum jokes, don't take them personally.

I didn't realise the aerospokes were disliked so much as I see a lot of them on 'FixedGear' galleries.

I don't mind them at all, in fact I think they look quite mad in a good way, but the honest fact is they are not great wheels, like I say above, slow, heavy, expensive and flexible.

So why do people use them?

Look nice, the white is super popular, a fixed gear icon all by itself.

Also, what happens when you go over a bump and a normal wheel would buckle? Do they explode or something?

    Sensible questions only.
