p.s you may need to get the head tube reamed due to any heat distortion before fitting a new headset. bike shop won't charge much for this though just buy the headset get them to fit it while your there and they will prob do the reaming for free.

it's not pretty at the moment. but once i file down the bumps and tidy it up, i think it should look quite smart. the ring was machined specifically so it's exactly the right size. once it's painted i doubt it'll be noticeable.
good point about the reaming tommy. i was gonna buy a headset from teenslain, but maybe i'm better off getting a new one and asking the shop to ream it for me.

Whoa! Perhaps you should still get one of those deep-race headsets like the chris King or FSA pig DH, race face diabolous DH...
I'd get some zip-ties round the headtube just in case too. ;-)

it's actually pretty solid. it just looks bad cos it's covered in burned paint and a bit lumpy!

If the brazing was done well, I doubt it's any weaker than stock. After all, bikes are held together with just braze. Unless you're worried about the tip of the crack acting as a stress raiser?

so i cleaned up the repair...

and i've built it up now. it all seems fine, but i've yet to take it on a nice long ride to test it. i'll post some pics of it a bit later.

haha. that's mine. it's pink/gold/yellow. my gf's is gonna be all pink, with some glitter on the headtube.

the paint job on the iro is pretty shady. i'm gonna se how the repair holds, then spray it up properly at some point.

although this is my only complete bike in london.
i've got 3 frames and a load of parts kicking around though. i need to clear out before i move out of my flat!
@hammo: i'm not gonna run a brake. but the part of the bar that the levers and grips fit on isn't oversized (or super-over in my case), it's just the centre where the stem clamps. normal mtb or bmx levers should work.
