I know that i need a 180mm steerer and so that would leave me 40mm left sticking out... is that enough??
another word... would it fit on pug carbolite?

should have taken those gear shifter bosses off - they rip nasty holes in your knees when you lean forward to skid. A bit of careful sawing with a junior hacksaw and then file and sanding sorts them out, you could then re-paint just those areas? Plus make sure you clearcoat it - i used hammerite on mine thinking it would be tough but it only took a couple of months before it started looking shabby.
Great job on the colour scheme!

Hey I got the 103 off a friend too riser bars cranks (wreaks of wheels) and forks which are all fine. I say fine with the kranks but I can get the damn things off, the arms are connected by what looks like a bolt going through the krank sort of axle but the bolt has no head and doesnt want to budge, any of you guys have any experience with the b*sterds?(I can post pictures if ya want).

like these? hack saw!!!

Yeah sorta those pictures arent great but that looks like the top of them, now im a noob here so hack the nuts or the crank axle thingy itself? I wasnt sure whether to keep the crank and whatnot anyway because it had 52 teeth on one of the gears, should I replace the lot? Even if I keep them I will need them off to paint.

if the wheels are 700c then you should be ok.
the peugeot rear hub spacing is 126mm, you may have to spring it out for a 130mm hub..carbon forks:
you need some with a 1" steerer and will have to change the headset.
by playing about with a few headsets it is possible to use a 1 1/8" fork in a 1" frame.

has anyone (god forbid) taken their bikes on the tube??
If you take your wheels off, smile and can beg like Keith sweat

District Line, once and taken the GT without wheels on Central Line to get it to/from Witcomb.
It didn't have wheels so I was ready to argue "luggage, not bike!" -

i took my bike on the tube loads when i was younger to get to playstation skatepark. Cant remember the line we went on but it was a bmx doubt that makes a difference.

Depends on the Line.
On some not allowed, on some only during off peak.

Really, what kind of headsets? ones from the Tardis?
on all the ones I've seen the 1" steerers are already gnat's chuff close to the inside of the headset cup body where it goes into the headtube.
I'd love to see the evidence of this claim though, it would be useful to know which headsets will work like that.
