  • Tomorrow's apparently gonna be even worse. Following on from earlier, I'm definitely preferring the Swrve's over the Alpkit jeans. The latter have too high a waist to make them any good for cycling IMO. I reckon it would be bloody uncomfortable as they're pretty stiff and the waistline would be digging into my gut most of the time. The swrve jeans are also much more comfortable, they have a lighter, stretchier, less restrictive feel to them. You hardly notice they're on even! I think the photos of them on the UK site don't really do them justice. Here's some pics of both pairs if anyone's interested.

The alpkit ones will be going back for a refund. Nice pair of jeans, but just not comfy enough for biking me thinks.

Gonna be interesting to see how the Swrve's hold up in tomorrow's weather...

  • Nice modelling!

  • :* ;)

  • Dibs on the cat flap in the wall.

  • Howie's Towpath look like a good trouser for cycling;

I like howies... but the fact it costs £125 to buy jeans that are ok to cycle in tells you denin's never going to be ideal for it.

I have most fun riding in old cut-off jeans.

  • anyone ride in tracky b's?

    highly underrated and highly recommended!

It's yours, but only if you take the grouchy old three-legged ginger cat with it.

  • That's one pissed off cat if I ever saw one!

  • Very. But to be fair, if I'd spent the past 8 years with a really bad itch on my right ear, that now matter how hard I tried to scratch, only seemed to get worse, then I'd be pretty livid too. Maybe it'll dawn on him one day, the leg is gone...

  • does anyone has the swrve softshell? I was wondering how it does fit and if its too warm with the fleece? if its like odee's I would definatly be interested in one. Just came home and my uniqlo is soaked.

    Poor thing!

  • Nah, he does alright for himself really. He outlived our other two cats, and has his (3) feet firmly placed as master of the house.

Back on topic, the I wore the new swrve jeans on my commute in this morning, and they were much more comfortable than anything else I've worn. Apart from my Oakley shorts, but they're padded. However on the ride home, it was pissing it down and they were soaked through within 10 mins. Still remained comfortable, and didn't cling like nomal jeans would, so I'm happy. I was a bit surprised to see white foam appearing on my knees though, WTF?! Must be some sort of bizarre reaction with the rain, maybe the acid in the rain reacting with the wax coating, who knows. No apparent damage done though, although they're still drying out.

  • primark skinny jeans
My legs are getting more and more muscular so there getting Really tight, but iv had them for a year and there Fine, Not ripped or worn.
And i abuse my jeans, allot

  • Had the same white foam thing happen to me, it's just the residue of whatever washing agent the factory used on the denim, also the reason they don't cling like normal denim is that they contain 2% lycra, so they have a bit of stretch, FYI lots of skate companies make jeans with 2% lycra at the moment i have some from KREW, Altamont & RVCA, all are good to ride in and cheaper than SWRVE, don't get me wrong the cut and panelling of the SWRVE jeans is good, but the denim doesn't seem to wear very well, i've had 3 pairs and the asses of them all are now very white, to the point where i don't really wear them anymore, in my opinion i find the denim RVCA & Altamont use wears better and fades less .....

Aha, an example of the Swrve spunkbubble effect.

Do you have a tendency to mumble when you speak?

  • Ok, probably not the best jeans for cycling but I was pretty shocked and quite disappointed that after as little as a couple of months and not much use on my bike, my 7 jeans started ripping in the groinal region. I blame the 2% lycra.

Although they were slightly ripped I decided to wear them out anyway...I got my saddle caught in the hole and pretty much ripped the jeans in half! Not go.

Ah, I'm not the only one then.

See my post on page 3 of this thread. I felt the waist was too high & stiff to be comfortable for cycling in.

  • i really should get up a pic of the 2 pairs of trousers iv ruined by getting caught in the chainrain/chain. Only today did i tear a HUGEEEE hole on my trousers. I really should by cycle friendly trousers.
