Absolutely. But the yellow-saddle, black wheels, turquoise bars, white stem, yellow grips, red fork mentalness needs some toning.
The frame, however, is here to stay. Though it does need its rear drop-outs re-aligned. Apparently its easy enough and CONdor want to charge me a tenner or so for it. Anyone have a tool so I can do it myself? Will trade for beers…

Cracking. I'm moving house this weekend (hence shit to sell at the moment), but sometime the week or two after that? I'll letcherknow. And I can happily pay in booze. Thanks for that Dale, you rock. (Although I have a funny notion that you might just lay into with a pair of pliers. Maybe 'cause I'm thinking of doing that… Sorta.)

yeah or large spanner for doing headsets etc ;)

you'll be paying in red bull and coke, not together tho

I have a spare case (x24) of a new, and somewhat tastier, Red Bull equivalent in the office. That should cover it.
Is it really just a case of cold setting the dropouts by eye? I don't want the rear stays to move. Do I risk screwing with the dropout welds by pliering it? Any tips? As much as I'm super grateful to Mister Balls, I'm the kind of chap who likes doing stuff himself. If pos. I'd just been led to believe that, whilst easy, realigning rear dropouts required some special piece of kit…
Any advice?

yeah acc. DB just take 1 large, large spanner and straighten them.
-
• #35
I'm strongly against cold setting if you can avoid it, do avoid it.

• #36
what do you think the guys at the bike shop will do?? unless the have a park tools adjustable frame straightener.
big headset spanner will work wonders ;)

This is the proper tool and proper way to do it. It's well overpriced and overcomplicated, and isn't exactly a precision instrument.
I bodged one up by getting two threaded axles, bolting one into each dropout (sandwich the dropout between two nuts/lockrings/whatever) so that they meet half-way in between the two, and using them like the proper tool. Worked a treat.
Boo-yeah hardcore ninja $0 bike-collective mech skillz!

Cheers for this Martin. I've just been staring at it for the last hour with a set of wheels on it, and my jaw on the floor. 'Tis truly the murderbike; this weekend is going to be mainly taken up with faceplant practice. -

May be v. reluctantly selling. Thing is I can't be arsed to sell it for any less than I paid from Roberto as it's in exactly the same nick and has new shimano BB/stronglight headset.
It wasn't a rational decision to buy this murderbike really: the GB is perfect for the road. Tight but no overlap; nice 531 ride quality; drilled. Oh well I am a mong.
