  • do they in Manchester? I imagine same rules will apply

  • no idea? what is manchester?

  • Velodrome open to public in 2013. Velopark earlier I think

  • Legacy, what a joke.

The biggest piece of legacy will be a shopping centre.

Eastway cycle track was destroyed, and we get Westfield.

I'll only feel slightly positive if I see LFGSS track days at the velodrome several times a year. Without that, I'll believe deeply that legacy is just a lie to sell the debt in advance of the games.

This is a bit ignorant coming from you David, I'm surprised.

I'm sick of people bemoaning the old Eastway circuit, yes it's gone. BUT we have the BEST velodrome in the WORLD in london now, along with a dedicated road circuit and World class BMX track. There's still hog hill too. Not to mention the multitude of regional class BMX tracks, and the Cyclepark in kent. Then there's the bigger picture of increased funding, increased interest, increased participation, which ultimately means even more facilities and the best chance we've ever had of real changes being made to make the roads safer.
But apparently none of this is good enough.

I was being purposefully gloomy, having been denied the ability to purchase tickets to sit in the best velodrome in the world and watch the games I reserve the right to ignore all reasonable debate and bear a grudge.

It's not only the velodrome, the Velopark will actually be one of the bright spots (fingers crossed that it'll open in 2013 as promised), thanks to the hard work of people like the Eastway Users' Group, and in particular Michael Humphreys. Other than that, we can only hope that they'll reinstate the East Marsh properly and also Walthamstow Marsh. And hopefully Hog Hill will remain, too, and the rest of what RPM mentions.

  • You can get those bags here if they haven't been banned yet http://thatbigeventinlondon.co.uk/

  • The one-way system through Greenwich started overnight. Even at 6 a.m. as I left for work the tailback was 1/2 mile, along the full length of the Norman Road trying to make it from Greenwich High Road to Creek Road.

  • My firm was involved in the legacy masterplan design. Most of the open spaces between stadia will be infilled with housing, and from what I've seen it will be excellent. They will still be parks, squares and avenues too though.

    some options for you ....

    don't drive, cycle
    choose a new exciting route
    canoe to work
    get the ferry
    move out of greenwich

    embrace the olympics

Cycling into Greenwich today, merrily filtering on the right, one of the white van men stuck in the queue decided to U-turn without looking, almost wiping me out. Every silver lining has a cloud.

    New Fast Automatic Dafodils

  • My girlfriend almost got taken out by a German coach who swerve at her on the way to work near Victoria.

Fortunately several cyclists shouted at the coach to stop.

    It begun.

  • Anyone care to guess what has happened to the traffic system outside Buckingham Palace and Parliment Square?

  • New Fast Automatic Dafodils

Yes this happened to me too. Be careful out there people, I can feel the road rage building already. Drivers racing to get ahead to the next tailback. Not looking where they are going, etc.
