Like the security issue (where G4S have employed a selection of vagrants for a penny over minimum wage) the govt. and LOCOG will deal with this with what is called "organic problem solving". This is also known as "making it up as you go along" because they didn't start planning in time.
Cunts.
I say use the Olympic Lames (deliberate typo!) and cry with laughter when they try to nick you with the bullshit legal statute above.

Here - highlighted in yellow.
Its ok for bikes now because the original rough track has been resurfaced with some smooth stuff. Expect to share with pedestrians.Massively helpful - thanks for that.

I don't see how the civil penalties under the TMA can apply to cyclists in any way (nor how they can be enforced in any way).

I can only assume that all of this security is because the visiting athletes, coaches, support staff and tourists are all armed and intent on killing Londoners?

I find it hard to tell which parts of competitive sport aren't essentially fascistic?
School sports days that involve no competition ?

When I was in Greece for the Athens Olympics the lady who had been largely in charge had a fireworks party to celebrate her work- which promptly set a local woodland on fire.
We've not got the sole rights to incompetence, although we would appear to be trying hard to look that way.

The fact that many of the off road well used commuter routes through East Hackney such as the River Lee and Greenway are closed is scandalous and counter all promises regarding access
David, there was never any promise that the Greenway would be kept open during the Olympics, as it was always going to be one of the major pedestrian access routes. They actually wanted to close it years ago (can't quite remember when that was going to come into force) during the entire construction phase, but we managed to persuade them to keep it open.

I think that this view of London is from the perspective of a tube travelling tourist.

Only old bill would be able to do that (as far as I can tell) - TfL / civvy / non-constable types can only issues penalty charge notices, via approved devices (i.e. cameras) and only then to vehicles.
Is this correct? Is it the case that the only people who could give you a ticket (or actually do anything of consequence) for riding in a Olympic lane are the rozzers?
If anyone else tried to ticket you, they'd have to do it via a camera, which presumably is pointless given that you'd be, to all intents and purposes, unidentifiable on a bike.Does this mean that you should only stop to discuss this with a policeman and can safely ignore anyone else?
-
• #649
Even if they could identify you via camera on a bike, the TMA doesn't allow for PCNs for pedal cycles.
It doesn't appear that any powers have been given to non-police constables to stop anyone, let alone cyclists.
But then again, I'm no lawyer, and can't be said to have an exhaustive (or even accurate) knowledge of this.
-
• #650
So, if you felt unsafe on the nearside with all the traffic that's been put into the one lane, there'd be no reason not to use the lanes if there isn't a policeman sat there ready to ticket you.
Assuming the information that we've made up between the two of us is accurate (I'm sure it is ;))
Looking at this ...
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11607.aspx
appears that TFL have lazily used the already existing 'cycling routes' suggestions map link which is wrong because e.g. HA HA Road is closed.
