Edzackerly.
Care to have a guess at what percentage of tickets our wonderful private sector sponsors have been allocated?

FFS - £9.3 billion and the best news I've seen is "Be thankful it's not £24 billion".
4 times over budget, a wanktastic ticket allocation to ensure nobody can see just how many tickets went to bankers, chums etc, patronising ads on the tube to say "feck off and walk to work if you didn't get a ticket to our summer banker jolly".
The best example and demonstration of just what a load of propoganda and bullshit this is are the special laws being brought in to stop anyone standing up and saying what a bad idea this is.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a global sports event, where physical excellence is exulted and used to motivate and inspire generations into sporting endeavour.
It's just nothing like that exists.
Instead we have the tacky money-making twatathon where sporting endeavour is used as a vehicle for a bunch of PR twats, logo designers, parasitic banks and politico chums to variously put a load of tax coffer money in their pockets for doing a substandard job, whitewash their harm to society, and have a good time at our expense.
And we've all got to behave like the Emperor's new clothes are really splendid.

Jung, I was mid-keyboard rantbash when you posted. Do you have those figures? I'd really like to see 'em if they're available. -

So a quick google suggests the only figure available is a flat 8% without further details and with quite a few comments about a lack of transparency.Given LOCOG's trak record, where they are schtum there's usually something to hide, so it's safe to assume this 8% will comprise large sways of tickets in the best seats at the finals of each discipline.
2% investment cost vs 8% ticket allocation represents a nice return on the investment (notwithstanding the fact the 8% will be the best tickets available and therefore exponentially higher value). Add to that your own "brand stasi" supplied by LOCOG to enforce sponsor brand exclusivity and you've got the sweetest deal.
Had we known we should have formed a conglomerate and "bought" tickets through a sponsorship deal. Much better value.
Treating sponsors so preferencially to ordinary punters - good to see the spirit of the Olympics burning strong.

"The National Audit Office noted that public-sector funding has almost tripled, while private-sector contributions dwindled to less than 2%."
If that is true.. can't we just tell McDonalds and Coke to do one and pay the relatively small additional cost? Then we can take their 40% of the tickets and give them to the people who deserve them (families of the athletes and people involved in the grass roots of the sports, like the HH coaches).
The games lanes can become cycle only lanes and the venues can have bike parking with security… and we can take the sir from Seb Cunt and all have a lovely summer of sport without invasive advertising.

Well despite the potential travel disruptions, massive cost, ticketing issues, crappy logo, odd phallic mascots etc. I'm REALLY excited about the Olympics.
And I know I'm not the only one :)

Indeed. Boris Johnson seems genuinely excited as well.
