Be careful guys Hinata told me that if you criticize the Olympics too much teh SAS will turn up at your house and kill you in the face with fire.
Justsayin.
you are not far off..
New, punitive and potentially invasive laws such as the London Olympic Games Act 2006 are in force. These legitimise the use of force, potentially by private security companies, to proscribe Occupy-style protests. They also allow Olympic security personnel to deal forcibly with the display of any commercial material that is deemed to challenge the complete management of London as a "clean city" to be branded for the global TV audience wholly by prime corporate sponsors (including McDonald's, Visa and Dow Chemical)

^you'd think given it's a 'big thing' Stella McCartney might have bothered turning up in something other than her pyjamas. It's not like she grew up in Liverpool is it?
Edit - oops didn't refresh the page so made the the same comments as everyone else.
Can you delete a whole post by the way?

I take you point but 'bang on trend' might suggest that it's new/become popular (although you might not mean that), but I remember seeign them do that at least 15 yrs ago when I used to live there. That said each time I go back I do see more of them... it's a strong look.

Is this the only place one can be cynical about the Olympics? It feels like legislation may have been changed to make criticism of the Olympics an act of Treason.
I was thinking today about how I would answer the reporter in the street asking what the Olympics meant to me:-
5 weeks of struggling to get into work to earn a wage that is then taxed to pay for a nice summer jolly I've not been invited to for a bunch of bankers, decorated by a load of "designers" paid a fortune to produce utter bile, out of all of which the only discernible effect I will notice will be the additional traffic congestion and a few years of decreased investment in our local area.
awesome, this will be my default response to limpics

I like the olympics logo. Ive never been able to see the whole Lisa simpson thing.
But mascots are ridiculous. And the single colour flag is stupid.
Volunteer uniforms I am indifferent about, I wouldn't be offended by wearing it.
Decision to put olympics in a crowded, expensive capital city with struggling transport. Moronic.
When the USA had it they put it in atlanta, middle of knowhere. They should've distributed venues across the country more. With a good few things in the midlands for ease of access and a few things up north as they never get anything. -

Distributing it across the country would have been a disaster. No one wants to go there. Have you been? It's not very nice.

This morning some of the people complaining about the ODA building on Leyton Marsh (behind the Ice Rink) have been holding a boules tournament. Which has resulted in the Olympic police being called, and a temporary halt to construction.
Never underestimate the power of female dog-walkers of a certain age.
There's going to be another demonstration tomorrow at 2.
brilliant. got any links / further info?

My missus is a volunteer.
Using up her holidays to drive around some despot's son-in-law in a big BMW along the roads I'm now not allowed to use. Wearing a shit uniform.
Happy days.

There's a group on Facebook - Don't be Harsh, save the Marsh. And due to about 5 Occupy people turning up, I believe it's made the cover of the Evening Standard.
Edit: and here's the cover.
