  • Perri Shakes-Drayton is a wicked name.

  • She looks like she had to work hard there though.

  • ^^ that definitely joins DeeDee Trotter in the final.

  • choir pratice!

  • come on - another gold !

  • A couple more golds to look forward to tomorrow. The way I see it, we are top of the leaderboard as China and America don't really count :)

I agree with this, but when you consider it, we're not that far behind - currently 21 off the US, a further 3 in arrears to China. Proportionally this is incredible - we're punching well above our weight.

I'm keeping an eye on Russia's tally - 37 plays our 40. Even more incredible.

Ogogo doing well in the boxing right now - noise from the ExCeL is deafening.

  • Go Ogogo.

Love seeing everone that competes getting so excited.

  • And he takes it.

  • Ogogo got a gift in his last fight, and again the bias in the scoring is showing, but he deserved to go through. The refereeing in the boxing, and some decisions has been very shady.

  • I can't even pretend to understand the scoring in the boxing.

  • I just can't stop gawping at the athletes' amazingly toned bodies.

  • Innit, omnomnomnomnom.

  • You've not been watching the shot put then.

    Them's some husky folks.

But they make that lump of iron fucking fly through the air though.

  • Sorry, unfortunately juxtapositon there! Just found this photo and posted, wasn't giving an example! Hmm, not sure anyone will believe me after my man-crush admission the other week...

But they make that lump of iron fucking fly through the air though.

    With bloodcurdling sound effects!

Ha! It seems I'm not alone: Olympic body-ogling – why it's different for women

  • Cycling is probably one of the only sports that transcends class/wealth so I don't know what you're on about.

Correct. It is because we all ride standard bikes that are incredibly cheap, there is virtually no other equipment or clothing required and what there is costs peanuts. Race entries are free and there is usually a very active event programme within a couple of miles of most homes meaning no need for expensive travel or cars.

Compared this to soccer where the ball and two jumpers required are prohibitively expensive.

  • In the boxing Ryota Murata for Japan and excellent Brazilian Esquiva Falcao Florentino are the ones to watch in the middle weights, I quite fancy Toledo Lopez the Cuban in the light weights although the Lithuanian Petrauskas will take some beating. I hope that Lopez & Petrauskas meet as it will be like Ali versus Foreman all over again.

  • I can't even pretend to understand the scoring in the boxing.

you punch them hard in the face you get 1 point
they punch you hard in the face they get 1 point

repeat for repeat for 540 seconds
