Hi there, my first post :) From the start i just wanted to convert my Condor geared bike into a fixed gear/ss. I walked into Brick Lane Bikes to enquire and i found them very helpful. Next time i came in with my bike and still helpful but was told that my bike was a little too big for me and after riding one of their 49 (yes smaller) frames i fell in love with it! SO now iam slightly open to buying a brand new bike but i dont know wether to spend all my money on BLB. The price would come to £750, custom wheels and all. is that good? ALSO i miss my 'vintage condor' look and wondered if i should just buy a vintage frame and bring that into them to convert?? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you thank you

The BLB frames are nice enough, but if you've got a bike you're comfortable on, you may as well teach yourself how to look after it by converting it yourself.
Its not very difficult at all, and will be very, very cheap and a better introduction than buying a bike, in my opinion. -

just have a quick look in the classifieds section here and get an idea of what sort of prices you can get a bike for
then decide whether you want to spend £750 / convert your old bike / or buy something differentfixed gear gallery - trawl through that for a day or two and again get an idea of what bikes are out there and you might see something you like even more

I wouldn't bother with the Fixed Gear Gallery at all personally. Try the Bike Porn thread! Read the whole thing, I dare you.
BLB is a massive rip-off - consistently a fair few pounds more expensive on every last item than I've seen anywhere else. And the service there is inconsistent and sometimes dire (I went in last week for the first time in ages last week and it reminded me why I give the place a wide berth...).

i wouldn't bother with SP's advice ^
fixed gear gallery is a great place to start IMHO, just flick through hundreds of different bikes and look at the components the look of the bike the styling etc you'll get a great idea of the types of bikes available
it's not all porn but you'll see pretty much every compnent in combination with other to give a good feel of how your finished bike would looki chose my parts by 6 - 12 months looking at FGG admittedly it was before LDNFGSS was in existence so i didn't have too many other options
Thanks. Those Katanas were stunning.
