  • Have Continental Supersport Plus on my commuter for about 8 months doing about 100 miles a week. There is still lots of rubber on them but have just had my 5 punctures in the last 3 weeks so they are going in the bin.

Don't understand how they can just suddenly start puncturing?
Not one in the first 7 months...

Had a similar problem with Conti Speed Kings. Ridden for about a year with no issues (only about 40 miles a week) and then about a month of punctures. Looking to change now. I wonder it there is a critical point where the rubber becomes too weak?

Heh, I had The Voice of Scoble in my ear this morning, went to lean the bike into a fast left hand turn, and THE WORD came to me- it's damp, you're on Gatorskins front and rear DO NOT LEAN.

Pointless tyres, I'm scared of them and their lack of grip in the wet.

I was going to get Gatorskin Hardshells to replace the above. Are they not considered good in the wet? Generally I'd heard good things about them.

  • Mine are not hardshells, so I cannot venture an opinion on them.

Mine are folding, 25c gatorskins, and they are rubbish in the wet in my view- I'll certainly never run them as winter tyres again.

  • Paging hippy.

    :)
