When a thread is created the title of that thread becomes tags- i.e. "Neils DIY Thread" would have the tags "Neil", "DIY" and "Thread".

You can only edit tags that you have created- so if a tag that was generated by the title is edited, does it follow that it has to have been a moderator that did so?

They're not stored in such a way that it would be a trivial change. And if anything is non-trivial then it's something for me to do in the next version of the forum rather than today.

That said, I'd carry on repeating the mantra: tags are not anonymous. As with aliases, I'll freely out the authors of anything that is hateful, trolling, racist, etc. You should assume that they're public, because one day they may be.

It's very likely that those tags were there already before they were temporarily disabled.

Nope, existing tags were kept and restored except when a thread had 75 or more tags, in which case to function with the new system and to allow tags to work on the site... they were removed.
