The high point in Twittering history appears to be an incident last week in which Stephen Fry got stuck in a lift and passed the time by "tweeting" about it in real time.

yeah, but i like the WAC page too.

• #34
Me too.
I load it at work sometimes.. just so they know I'm busy..
-
• #35
hmm.. i keep hearing this word, "twitter," but before this thread i never bothered to figure out what it was. i think mine would be a little too boring.
-
• #36
kattt.. everyone's is too boring, it's just that they think it's interesting.
"over connected", "weird", "self-important", "geeky" - succinct breakdowns of what's going on with twitter, at least at the social/friendship level outlined by its advocates. "I'm here, I'm doing stuff" - big deal, you're what's known as 'alive'.

too busy to play scrabble but you've got time to post on the twitter thread? get to work, pajamas.
i read badtmy's twitter... and all that coffee talk (cawfee tawk for the well informed) actually had me tempted to start one because then i would have had somewhere to vent my frustrations after paying two pounds for a less than mediocre americano this afternoon. my #1 criticism of this country is how expensive a cup of fuckin coffee is... and maybe "twitter" is a more appropriate place for that observation than this thread..

cawfee tawk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're so SNL..

• #39
****get to work slacker
the forum is not work

london coffee is (mostly) shit.
my twitter feed is only sporadically interesting, but i follow some people who are regularly interesting so it's ok.

my roommate, i just found out, gets texts every time some one updates their twitter.
i officially hate her.
-
• #42
your roommate must not follow many people, or she would go insane.
-
• #43
i don't get it. like i know what it is, and my gf uses it. but i just don't seem to care i guess? it's so weird and self important seeming to me. maybe i'm just old.
So you have a girlfriend!

I'm on twitter, mostly spout rubbish if I ever post anything. twitter.com/gashspit
Only really enjoy it again because of some of the people I follow, it's good for geeky shite though. Seems every geeky/programmer type person I know is on it. A bit like this forum. ;)

Twitter really is the new misanthropist's hell.
Still, at least the name runs off the tongue better than Misguided Self-Importance.
-
• #48
i think I am getting old, as I fail to see the point of twitter
Likewise, makes me cringe, although I found the section on the wikipedia page about twitter 'in the media' interesting.

it's for the self obsessed people who feel the world would be a far worse place / or maybe even would implode without them spouting their wise words of wisdom 24-7 zzzzzzzzz
well except for steven fry .... i think the world should be made to listen to him
kind of like people who text / call radio 5 and let us know their OH SO IMPORTANT point of view !!
