sorry hippy, i realised i can't make it this week. tuesday is daiquiri night at number 10, and you know how stroppy the PM gets on tuesdays after a big weekend... Charlie and Millie are coming as well, so with those two starting trouble there'll be plenty of horse floating around, if you get my drift. Hopefully that slapper widdecombe doesn't show, a couple of spliffs and she's all over anything with a pulse! Shocker!

twitter has definitely and irrevocably jumped the shark.
check this guy out, he followed me today (fuck knows why): http://twitter.com/nextactioncoach
makes me feel a bit sick for the future of humanity that people like this even exist.

I'm getting so much spam on there now. Manageable by just not following the idiots, but not good overall.

i have created a personal rule whereby anyone who mentions marketing via Twitter, being a "social media expert", anything "2.0" or "web strategist" in nature earns an instant unfollow.
i understand these people exist, i just don't want to talk or listen to them.
twitter has become way less fun since work people started following me. there is a dilemma because my job means i can't give away my ideas (they're to be sold to paying clients), but i feel like people who follow me solely because of my job will think i'm an idiot if i only twitter about going to the pub or having a nice ride to work. it kinda sucks.
it was more fun when i could say anything i wanted without worrying about the consequences.

I have this all over the web. What I do I do well, but I can never disclose how I do it and my work are pretty against me even disclosing a vague idea of what I do in case it gives away a competitive advantage.
I understand it. But it's so frustrating to see so many "authorities" get it so wrong, and not being able to actually publish why and set them on the right path.
It's the paypacket + advancement of the company vs. advancement of the industry. The former wins, and there's nowt to be done about it until C-level people understand the benefits of working for a greater good and acting socially.

you're not too bad! we all have our lapses, got knows i twitter plenty of self-promotional stuff, it just annoys me when people are ONLY on twitter because someone told them they can use it for "web 2.0 marketing". that's just "not getting it".

C+, May 2009 'Pros Deliver Sweet Tweets':
"When it comes to the internet and new technologies, cyclists are serial early adopters. 'Buffalo' Bill Chidley, a former London bicycle messenger, writes the Moving Target messenger webzine. According to Chidley, a range of new technology has 'changed everything' for bike messengers: 'Now the guys have at least a radio and a mobile, most have a PDA for electronic capture of proof of delivery and some are also GPS tracked via either the PDA or a separate device"

Guys
I know I'm putting myself up for a load of stick here but, with an eye over at the Flickr thread, I've noticed there aren't many of us sharing stuff on Twitter. I suggest we use use #LFGSS as a hashtag (just whack it in a tweet) to alert other users to:
Police on the beat and handing out fines left and right
Riders down, careful out there
Random, last minute (or in progress) beers on etc.You can check the results at http://search.twitter.com/search?q=LFGSS
This should hopefully alleviate a small amount of traffic from the site while we arrange alternate hosting/sponsorship.
Thoughts?
excellent. i'll be over as soon as the ketamine wears off enough to work out my pants (should be tuesday morning). rack me up a fat one.
