my roomate is insane. BOTH her phones (her stupid flid keypad phone thing AND her Side Kick) make it sound like she is having and R2 unit orgy where ever she fucking is.
+1 for description.
i have recently found myself in a relationship. if you followed my Plurk you would know that...
What the hell is a Plurk? Is this about plurking-related activities? Or have I missed one of your threads? Nice news, anyway!
all this talk makes me feel like we are living in some sort of post cyber punk world with out having the neat dystopian cyber punk world first. i for one feel jipped.

i have a feeling that twitter will change the world. In about 3 years most people will be using this to stay in touch, mobile phone conversations will decline as we move towards most inter himan communication being by text as we become more and more impersonal. Eventually humans will lose the power of speech on the use it or lose it basis that underpins Darwinism evolution. The vocal chord will become the new appendix.

It will change the instant messaging model, as it is a clear winner as a replacement to SMS messaging when data plans on phones become bog standard.
SMS = expensive, limited, broadcast to specific people only.
Twitter = cheap, feature rich, publish to anyone interested. If that happens then the impact on telephone companies is huge as a sizeable chunk of money comes from charging a lot for very little (SMS charges are in real-terms virtually non-existant, yet they charge anything from a few pence to almost a pound depending on lots of arbitrary criteria).
The real question is how will twitter make money? It's the big question around twitter that hasn't really been answered (they're not yet making a profit and until they do it's hard to say that what they're trying is really viable long-term).

I think that's the wrong way to approach it. The solution will probably who will be the first to develop the tech into an integrated function. They'll be the ones to buy twitter and profit as licensees.
