No, double straps have their uses. But I doubt the rider would exceed the strength of single straps to need doubles

The only reason people do have double straps is so they can wear boat shoes or Vans loafers while cycling.
-
• #7131
not really
more secure, more comfitable, easier to get in and out so you dont get trapped and fall over, generally better....
-
• #7132
Buy decent straps that don't break. HowTF do you think people have managed for the past 100yrs. I know proper sprinters who use single straps even now.
Ignorant cunt? No.
You're just an overreacting twat who talks a load of shite

£20 for the pedals, £40 for a decent enough set of shoes.
You find the pedals even cheaper if you time it right

I actually found a pair of rusty SPD pedals. Cleaned them, greased them and use them on my Planet X.
You can buy cheap MTB Shimano shoes for the price of new Converses. -

If you want, I can give you touring SPD pedals. Platform on one side. They look special needs, but I used them and I'm cool. Right? I'm cool, right? Right?!

To be honest, I can't be bothered with clips/straps on fixed gear bike. Too much fluffing about. I used cages with SS, though.

spd's have nothing to do with straps

well yeah, saying i don't need double straps when i really do, just because i'm poor doesn't mean i don't ride hard
I didn't know you you were poor at the time. no different than a lot of people on here then.
My, and many other cyclists who have used clips&straps have found that a single strap is plenty. The only people I know to use double straps are sprinters. What I'm saying is that what you're saying is not the usual experience with straps. I know road sprinters who have never found the need for double straps so I doubt you can say that you're riding 'harder' than a racing cyclist
