It's much better - deal with it!

How is vb going to monetize the non-member front page now?
This board has so many gubbins on it that it would look a right dog's dinner with Adwords overlaid as well. -

Damn, I knew it was the end of the world! ;)

ooo, very nice tynan. what app did you use to do that?
It's just a screen capture using 'Snapz Pro'

This is uninspiring.
I can't be bothered to post as much any more.

It's not any harder ma3k. There are already more posts per day than there was on Vanilla, and more concurrent people online. Just give it a try.

Hey John I thought it was a bit shit at first but I've got my head round it now and generally it's better.I just worked my way thru the bugs/problems thread and most things I was having problems with were explained there.

i was prepared to end it all when i returned from the shire to find this...
obviously its going to take a little getting used to but that wont take long.i think people should be a bit more grateful for what dave is doing...he doesn't have to do anything. -

give VB a break, he knows about all this interweb weird stuff, its all new, new stuff needs time to get used to. both for us and VB, look at what he has done so far, and take a look at some other forums that use this style, they are properly unusable, in the 3 days i was away from the interweb, vb got this up, and he got it so that an idiot like me can use it. thats allot of work, and its been well done, by a guy who does it for free, we should at least give him some love.
much respect to VB for all the work he has done for this forum and this community.

That implies that he has some hip hop bike slaves doing the hard graft for him, whilst he minces around wearing only a pair of limited edition venison Sidis, barking orders in html, and smearing Phil Wood's Tenacious Oil on his nipples.
That's what you said. Don't deny it.

Now I need to add a bromance tag.

That's a little hyper-sexual. Is there something you wanted to tell us?

Hello, I'm a little hyper-sexual.

So you're saying we should be 'grateful for what dave is doing', but then go on to say 'he doesn't have to do anything'.

I can't find the appropriate thread to cover this (please direct me) so i dug up this one.
The new design of lfgss 3.0 is very ugly - i like some of the changes that are going on, but all these boxes and bits of shading ... eurgh! Let's not do it! Keep the clean design of v2.0!

Rep returns with the current 3.0

You are way too soon with the critique.
LFGSS 3.0 is currently the default vBulletin skin.
Right now 2.0 is to 3.0 what I hope 3.0 will be to 2.0.
It's going to take a long time, I've set no deadline at all. But I am making the progress very visible.
We met on Tuesday, and:
- We are researching optimal length of of a line of text for readibility.
- Researching the type of layout to go for (fixed, possibly fixed with grid, fluid).
- Are looking at the width of a post in relation to the golden number (1.62-ish) in relation to user info next to a post.
- Are thinking of how to adjust the post area to increase usability, readability, features.
- Thinking about what we might do to the header and front pages to make search more apparent and to make new posts more obvious.
But what have we actually done to date? Pretty much nothing. The ONLY thing actually done to the play area we've created is that I've set the width of the page to be relative to font size, so that the page looks identical at various levels of zoom and font size. And I've only done that to see how much space this gives posts and to count the number of words in a line before they wrap.
So it's incredibly early, and progress will be deliberately slow with things being tweaked all the time.
I'm glad you hate it right now... that's what most forums on the web already look like, and it's nice to know that we are already a world away from that stuff.
