  • Does the super moderator have the ability to unlock threads... last post wins, for example?

Yes, if he wanted to lose the recently acquired abilities.

Though he could reply to a closed thread and win.

  • @rosmal - just what i was thinking

  • Are you sure the "super" part of his title might go to his head.

I'm not sure it'll make much difference to his ego. It was inflated to begin with.

  • Good move Big V. Creme eggs all round.

  • Does this mean that he is no longer hampered by the "You can only post once every 30 seconds" rule?

It's not like that ever limited his posting anyway, but no... even I get nagged about that by the system. The flood rules apply globally.

  • does this mean he can change every thread title to 'aussies are awesome!'

  • Any truth in the rumour that we must now refer to him as 'Sir'?

Just checked, it's 5 seconds. It just prevents dupes really... and spam.

does this mean he can change every thread title to 'aussies are awesome!'

He could in theory, but this would be that abuse of powers thing. It would all be rolled back and his time on the forum would come to an abrupt end.

I've made it very clear that the powers aren't to be abused. He would do so at his own peril.

  • Any truth in the rumour that we must now refer to him as 'Sir'?

None whatsoever. Fatty or fatso still works just fine.

  • Can he hand out Permabans?

  • Are they Aussie sweets like Cherry Ripes?

  • Can he hand out Permabans?

Yes, to spammers and such is cool.

But I don't want him to police, so wouldn't want him (or any other super mod) to ban any active member. I'd rather take that for myself and be persuaded it was the right thing to do over a long period of time.

  • Sorry, what?
I was busy winning last post threads and millionth posts..
    What's changed?

  • This might be a revolving position btw. I might let different people do it for a period of time and then let someone else have a go. Not sure, just thought it was worth doing today. But if at some point I say "hey, someone else's turn" then it shouldn't be taken as being anything bad that hippy's done... I just think this kinda of thing can sour your own experience of the forum, so before people get really bitter and twister (hah!) I'd have them pass the reins to someone else.

  • Added a mailing lists page and tab on the navbar.

This has existed for a while, but unless you had said when you signed up that you wanted to get email from administrators, you weren't subscribed.

And if you had wanted to unsubscribe, you effectively had to wait until you received an email to use the link in the footer of the email.

So the page is simply some info on how to subscribe and unsubscribe at any time, and how to manage your subscription.

It's a low-traffic email, tending to be every 2 or 3 weeks at the highest frequency and every 6 weeks or so at low frequency.

  • This has confused me.

I keep clicking Miscellany to get to the UserCp.

Desperately in need of better navigation.

  • That makes two of us. :-)

  • Yeah, i always knew it as the button second from the right.
I've seen that calender way to many times today.

  • When starting a new thread, once you enter the title it will now do a search for similar threads and display you a list before you create the new thread.

Anyone starting dupes now has no excuse... TFS is now built-in.

Anyone starting a thread that dupes but uses wildly different subject terms has an excuse, TFS is useless and failed at telepathy.

  • Useful. What's the best way of flagging up duplicate threads to you or hippy, by the way (or for that matter, mistakes in thread titles)? PM or reporting the OP or some other way?

  • PM both hippy and I with the URLs.

Reports are high priority things... shit going down things.

  • This is a TFS-100A:

    WTF does that even do!?

  • Oh, there is an exception.

Similar threads are not being checked when you post to the Classifieds forum... it's reasonable to expect that someone selling a wheelset on one day is different from someone selling a wheelset on another day.

So that's the exception. Couldn't think of any others though, so it applies everywhere else.
