Is it really necessary to have the image recognition on the search function? Its really irritating

But on the positive everything else is amazing : ).

great job VB, as much as i prefer vanilla this site is growing there isn't much choice... some feedback:
is there a way that i can just click on this quick reply box and start typing instead of having to click on the "quick reply" link on the right? (sorry i just re-read the thread and saw your reasoning)
and are there ways to separate things into columns like those links on the right of each post could be in a different column than the actual post text? it's hard to find those little things (took me 15sec to find "quick reply". i'm finding it really hard to read the posts as well... the way that it covers over 80% of the browser window width is a bit disconcerting.
oh, and where's the map and calendar and all that stuff?
sorry if it sounds harsh...

Yes ! It's a real pain !!

I'm so lost in this new forum....
But I have every faith in VB. He is a computer god. -

That is only there when you're not logged in. It purposefully slows you down and attempt to prove that you're not a script... as if you wrote a script that performed ten thousand searches you could very easily bring the server down.
Log in, and you aren't asked to verify you're not a script.

How is it not quick?

You've got a reply button as well now

Yeah, I need to rewrite the JavaScript... I'll hide it for now.
Multi-quote is now fixed.
Simply click multi-quote for each post you want to quote on, and when you're ready hit reply.

I'd rather people adjust, but if it is an insurmountable change I'll change it back. What I might do instead is hide the quick reply from the bottom of the screen so you have to click a "quick reply" button just to see it.

I spent ages emulating precisely where they were in Vanilla. The only thing I don't have that Vanilla did is a bar on the left of the screen to pad the screen 20%. But all of the reply buttons are where they were.
It's possible for me to use an alternate layout where the username and avatar appear to the left of the post content... I can play with that on Monday and give it a try if people want to see what that looks like.
oh, and where's the map and calendar and all that stuff?

Map and Calendar will come. vBulletin has a built-in Calendar but it's not very good. And the map stuff I have to install an extension for and as yet this instance is absent of all extensions. I want to see this running smoothly before I add lots of stuff... otherwise I wouldn't know where the bugs come from.

I'll go shrink them. I'll let them know you grassed them up ;)

I don't think the avatar size is the issue. Like you said above. I think the message field should be separate to the user avatar/name/details. It would then be easier to read.
Like the image posted below.

Is this what you mean? Not quite, when you have been away from a thread for a while you should be able to click on it and it will take you back to the last bit you read. As far as I can tell that button you mentioned just takes you to the last message on the thread. If you click on to a thread with 20 new messages at the moment it just leaves you at the top of the page! Cheers though. :)

Tynan was on the ball, but wrong arrow.
Hover over the first arrow (left of thread title) and it says "Go to first unread post".
The thread title goes to the first page.
Hover over the last arrow (which contextually is in the column called "last post") and it says "Go to last post".
So just click the arrows to the left of the thread titles and you will be precisely at the first unread post.
Note: You may need to click Quick Links > Mark Forums Read just once to clear everything so that it's bang up to date and can calculate correctly from that point onwards.

What a snitch!
Can't we have the larger 60 pixel avatars?! You can't see these ones and it seems pointless having them.
Oh, and multi-quote doesn't work still! -

Is there anyway we can have the old editable hyperlink tags back - current full address hyperlinks are very ugly?

Oh, and multi-quote doesn't work still!Multi-quote does work, but you may have a cached version of the older JavaScript file. CTRL+F5 sorts that on Windows... I'm not sure what the Mac thing for force refreshing the page is.
The avatars are now the same size they were on Vanilla. If we move to having user information in the left hand column, I'll make them larger again.

You still have those. BBCode is much better supported here.
[ url ] http://www.google.com/ [ / url ] = http://www.google.com/
[ url = http://www.google.com/ ] Google [ / url ] = Google
Without the spaces obviously.
Just type in the word you want to hyperlink, highlight it and then select the link tool to add the link.

my minor grumbles and feedback:
-the type face looks harsh on pc
-needs more space on the left hand side?
-weird how you can't just click and type in the reply box straight away... going to a post and clicking reply is weird...but i'm sure its working out for the best! :D

I'd like to see this quick reply area hidden UNTIL you press 'quick reply' button.. because I tend to hit END to get to the bottom of a page and most of it is taken up with this locked out box and not the posts i'm trying to read.. possible?
Yeah, I need to rewrite the JavaScript... I'll hide it for now.
