  • I have no idea. I'm using Android and whilst my fat fingers mean I should zoom a little... I haven't witnessed skew-whiffery.

  • Wait.. no... you've fucked it again. Put the thread listing dividers back in.

Thin light grey lines are back in.

But you need to CTRL+F5 or clear cache to see them.

  • boo :(

  • I don't like the lines either I'm afraid. Everything else is good. It was cleaner and less cluttered before.

  • Lovely

  • Boo to what?

You guys have got to explain a bit more... I can't do anything if I haven't a clue what the problem is.

  • Si si si, let's do it.

  • I was much happier when they weren't there. much much happier.

  • The horizontal lines on the front page VB

  • On the home page, for splitting forums... I think the grey lines help. The layout is irregular and it helps keep the notion that this is a list of forums.

On thread listings... I think they're not needed. The layout is very regular, and as such it's obvious that this is a list... lines seem redundant.

Would you guys agree with that?

  • It would be an acceptable middleground. I had no problems navigating the site without them, and that included bouncing between a properly calibrated monitor and one that doesn't really accept that 'grey' exists. but maybe I'm willing to put up with more than others, whatevs. the cleaner the better in my book.

  • Actually... just played around... a lighter grey looks better, and keeps it feeling spacious.

  • ^^ Same here - and I also use the site on phone and tablet as well as proper computer.
It's an aesthetic thing for me to be honest, I can navigate perfectly well without and now I think the homepage looks a bit like an Excel spreadsheet ;)

It's clearly a subjective thing. A lighter grey would probably look better.

  • I know the little subscription icons aren't a 100% match on that functionality... but they're still on the right and do indicate what you're subscribed to and by default that is only what you've participated in.

I'm not sure I understand this? Which are the subscription icons?

I tend to view new posts (not subscribed threads) and found the visual dots (where you've got involved in a conversation) useful.

Granted I could browse new posts and subscribed threads, but that seems much more cumbersome?

  • in other news I just turned avatar display back on (had it off for months) and and now I feel overwhelmed by bright colours and pictures everywhere. I'm going to have to go lie down for a bit.

  • There, lighter grey. #EEE rather than lightGrey.

I fucking hate CSS colours... gray, lightGrey... they're not even consistent.

In the list of threads, on the right hand side of the thread title (but before "Last Post") is a group of icons:

    = Subscribed (usually meaning participation)

better, I suppose. I'd make the lines the same grey as the 'read thread' highlight, so they disappear in chunks of read threads (where division isn't as relevant because it's discarded information) but that's because I have no idea what I'm talking about.

  • If that one doesn't do the job as precisely as you'd like, I can add another icon to that group to indicate participation.

  • Oh, and I've increased the forum jump size to 100% font, and also the page navigation.

Both seem to be integral to navigation, so shouldn't have been in the smaller font.

  • I'd like the ability to ignore all Regional forums.
Presently, though I've ignored all of them individually the "UKFGSS" subforum still appears on the home page.

Why won't you let me ignore more things?

    Also, I hate that you said;

    snappy

  • Ability to choose which forums you see will be in the next version of the site... 9 or 12 months away.

That's the biggest fundamental change: That they can be created by users, they you can choose which ones you see.

  • 9 or 12 months?
    Code quicker.
Or just delete the regions to appease me.

  • Why do the options on the 'Posts' dropdown go all skew-whiff when zoomed on Android/Dolphin? The selection area doesn't mesh properly with the field unless you go MASSIVELY ZOOMED. Selecting 'Today's Posts' is a bit of a faff.

I have no idea. I'm using Android and whilst my fat fingers mean I should zoom a little... I haven't witnessed skew-whiffery.

I'm still getting it. If I want to select 'Today's Posts', I have to touch the screen about half way between that field and 'Posts' above it. The green border/selectable area thing is not positioned accurately above the text field. Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.0, Dolphin 7.3.1 Beta, (HTC Incredible S).

Anyone else with the same minor problem?

  • I've just tried it on an Android 2.1 and Android 4.2, both work fine.

I think it's your phone, as in the calibration of the touch screen and where it registers the touch.
