  • Did I fix the text input boxes for you?

    I've no idea... Chromium on Linux looks great.

  • Much better now!

    Gmail is tiny though and lfgss is fine. Can I change sizes for certain websites?

  • Back to default browser font of Verdana 16pt to re-establish 'accessible' size on oft used sites. Here's the situation:

  • Input box is looking good - Chrome/win7

  • ^^ridiculous. 3 posts per page, FFS.

    Windows users: If you hold down Ctrl and use the scroll wheel, that should only change the site you're on.

    Mac heads: No idea.

    Linux: See mac.

  • If I make the font small enough, and have it so that there are 100 words per line.

    Then I can make it so that you have 50 posts per screen.

  • OK, going to let it settle for a while.

    Major tweaks have been done.

    You're all still in shock... let's give it 24 hours.

  • That's how the internet should work.

    On a phone it should look even better when I'm done.

    BTW, this is the ONLY way to develop... on the live servers when you have 1,200 people online.
    Loving it :)

    Any plans for a mobile CSS file with tweaks to make it more "vertical"? Eg losing the left column on the /subscriptions.php page or even moving the "author" box in thread view to sit above each post.

    Slightly related.. it's probably fairly easy to make a wee chrome add-on with tweaked styles for anyone who really can't bear the new look.

    mac = cmd. the + and - buttons work also.
    Although zooming doesn't rendering the text very well, the bold font seems to be quite illegible.

  • Not sure if it's intentional but some of the bold text seems to have lost its bold (main page etc). It's only really annoying for thread page numbers as the current page you're on is now harder to determine at a glance...

  • I've switched to Chrome and set PT Sans as the default, which is a lot easier on the eye (the size thing I don't have such a problem with). But I'm not so keen on Chrome, for a couple of reasons. The top nav is on-click rather than rollover [nav seems fine now actually] and the subs page doesn't update when navigating back, so now I have to refresh it manually all the time. Bah.

  • I almost thought it was Friday!

    Have set up the fonts and getting used to them.

    The drop down menu's are still in a huge font though.

    And ^^ yes, the bold page no. has disappeared.

    On the mobile CSS... the new new site (when I've built it) will have a proper cross-platform template that will make it vertical on mobiles.

    I did try this with the v3 style I worked on, but it caused a fair number of problems.

    As for a chrome add-on, such a thing exists:
    Personalised Web:
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/plcnnpdmhobdfbponjpedobekiogmbco?hl=en-GB

    All you would need to do for LFGSS is set:
    body {
    font-size:85%;
    }

    And it should then look identical to how it was before.

    Not intentional, I'll fix it.

  • I love how you change something and the feedback is instant, don't know many websites where you'd get that.

  • ^^ the box tint and text colour 'highlight' is far too subtle. A lot of people won't see that at all.

  • Also: so many people reading the web with no font smoothing. In 2012.

  • Bold now fixed on Chrome...

  • Right, I'm done again.

    Will leave it to settle for a while.

  • Ooohhh, Time for a Tetley ...

  • Fixed it. Looks very nice now although my eyes are still adjusting.

  • I should always develop this way... on a knife edge with a live audience.

    It's fun!

  • Did no-one notice that half way through that I changed the nav from "Social" to "Compass Beers"... figured I should call a spade a spade.

  • Relax, lean back... read without straining your eyes, don't be inches from the screen.
