Well, it was just down for 22 minutes whilst I added the RAM... if you were accessing during that time then I'm surprised you got anything at all.
Does it work now?

• #1353
Yep, all good.

There is a pretty serious denial of service attack going on at the moment. The LFGSS servers are taking a battering.
Traffic has quadrupled in the last hour, and it's only thanks the the ridiculous architecture that the site is largely unaffected.
It's almost as if we've been slashdotted.

And it's over.
Stats say that it lasted from 3pm to 4pm... it took another 5 minutes for all of the servers to calm down.
How weird.
I banned one IP address in the latter part of it, that made some difference, but it seems to have been multiple clients.

You got that? ;)

Can you put some sort of animated graphic on the front page? Sirens, flames, shaking - that sort of thing?
Please make this happen in times of strife.

Ah, that's what that was. I thought it was my connection until I daringly tried another web-site for once. ;)
-
• #1359
There are other web sites?
-
• #1360
Ah, my fault... I set the timeout too low.

I don't know if it is this but I keep getting Sorry connection has timed out. Sometimes can't even get onto the forum and its only this site. Perhaps it's trying to tell me something....

The Amazon referral parsing thing is breaking some links. Not a big deal, but thought I'd let you know. For example:
[ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_lnav_dyn?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200487920"]Amazon.co.uk Help: Kindle Software Updates[/ame]
Might just be the case with non-product pages?

Not just LFGSS though, there was a problem the London Internet Exchange today. Should be sorted now. Right pain whilst it lasted though, especially for those who have a support phone to answer :(

If I quote or reply to a post (any post) on the 'Mind fuck' thread I get a pop up telling me:
To view this page, you must log in to this area on www.shiceland.com:80:
Only happens on this thread.

When using Chrome in https mode I keep getting logged out when changing sub-forums.
-
• #1370
Are you on a Chrome Dev channel version? I'm using Chrome and do not see that.
-
• #1371
No, just the regular version (incognito, if that matters). It only lasted for about 2 days, seems to be ok for now, still have to re-log in when I go from HTTP to HTTPS though and I also get logged out following links to HTTP when in HTTPS mode and vice versa.

Been happening for a couple of weeks. Not all threads (but most), doesn't appear to be forum specific (mech & fixing/classifieds/general etc.)

I just tried to view my freecycle thread by clicking on the classifieds forum, and then the freecycle subsection, however it doesnt list any threads at all. Same thing happens under all the classified categories. I can see that there are pages of threads, as it still has the links to the pages, just no threads.
Am I missing something?
I'm running Chrome.
Today the home page of the forum doesn't even load for me.... 1 out of 5 times maybe, it does.
