  • nice bike, worth the puppies?

+1 for old peugeot decal love

  • i try not to think about the money. i always overspend, end up broke for ages, but get loads of love from the bike and a warm feeling inside with each build. i guess that's the way it works, unless i'm doing something fatally wrong.

  • Looks good pj.
    Team Peugeot.

  • that seatpost is sitting in the bottom of my 'bike bucket', so give me a shout when you get the bob up and running.

  • Coolio. Cheers mate.

  • so how does that non seat post bolt work?

  • ah.

it's exactly like a stem, with the bolt at the top. at the bottom is the funny inverse trapeze expander that is tightened by the allen bolt that runs the whole length.

so far so good. however, when setting up the bike you realise immediately that ANY adjustment means you need to remove the saddle in order to get to the bolt. at which point you begin to grasp why peugeot made them for approximately half a season.

im torn between too-much-hassle and oh-man-thats-perty, i think pertyness wins. Also should make it harder to nick the saddle?

  • pretty much impossible, i hadn't thought about it like that.

  • I like it, nice job!

  • Very nice.

  • looks good man

  • nice pj :D

  • Looks really sweet, nice build. I have almost exactly the same frame at home, just waiting on a few bits to arrive from ribble and she should be rolling in a few days. I love the stem-type seatpost, but I am a bit worried about finding a longer one. My only worry with the frame is that it could be a touch on the small side for me, and where the bejesus am I going to find a longer version of that weird seatpost?!
Also I've gone for red bar tape and yellow trim tyres. Not having assembled it all I don't know if it will look the shit or just plain shit. Fingers and toes all crossed tho...will post a photo once its done and await the londonfgss critique!

  • the seatpost is a pain, but it looks fine. i have no idea if it is even possible to get another one, i think the diameter is 24.5 or something odd.

    yellow tires?

  • that is really sweet PJ, i love those old peugoets and that is a brilliant example. good work dude

  • poor puppies :(

  • yellow tires?

Not solid yellow...just subtle stripes. Shit, I'm scared its going to look crap now tho!

  • oh yeah, flat looks like a dog breeding farm got hit by ebola.

  • pj that looks class. Keep the seatpost. I hope you look happier than the fellow in the picture riding it though, he looks like he needs a lie down.

  • I had a 55cm version of one of those, it was great but it died while attached to a lamp post. I managed to strip it right down and eventually the frame went in the bin. I still have all the parts and would love to put them back on something similar ;) . I always found the position just right for riding distances.

    That is lovely!

    Chris

  • nice pj whats this one for

  • not sure yet.

riding around, at the moment. i am trying to work out if it is a tiny bit too small for me.

  • oh - there was me thinking 44:15 would be spinny.

    it's 77"

fuck me, it's bigger than 48:17.

oh the logic is too too much.
