I'd be happy to buy a pint for whoever might lend me a crank tool suitable to remove a custom crank and advise me on removing an old - fairly sure 3/32 - chain.

I'll advise you to buy me a drink while removing your chain with my chain-breaker. :) I could also bring my shimano chainwhip/lockring tool, which works fine on phil BBs, but i need to replace the chain on the whip as I borrowed some links to lengthen the chain on a bike. :S
