don't settle itsbruce. you may think it's ok to compromise now but as the days turn into months and then years you'll grow to resent tibbs' burger eating routine and you'll sit across him wondering where the man you used to consider a buddy has gone and begin to ask yourself how you ever managed to bite your tongue whilst watching such a blatant flouting of culinary traditions.

fwiw I tend to eat the chips first too cos chips are mad boring and I think I'd probably kill myself if I ended a meal on such a bland component. it's like eating the toppings/sauce off a pizza first and saving yourself the plain base for last.
