    Epic curmudgeon-ness... Have some rep...

Wha'appen Jose? You starting the revolution or summing?

You'd better believe it, SkullDog... ;]

  • Epic curmudgeon-ness... Have some rep...

It wasn't really voluntary, bashed my shoulder racing on Sunday so a full 24 hours of sulking ws in order.

  • Ok southies I have a question: who will help me organise a depths of winter night ride? It's going to be all about joining up the hills south if the river, particularly ones with a decent view, starting with a clockwise loop of Richmond Park, then finding all the hills worth riding 'twixt there and the climb up to Blackheath. I need your south London knowledge (I is a newcomer fakensouthenger innit). I want some of the hills to be not so bonkers, but some mean fuckers in there too. I know that the views from Nunhead cemetary, Sydenham hill/forest hill and Blythe hill and Hilly Fields in Brockley would be ace, from the hills down in my area. Also church road (?) in Crystal Palace. Some longer drags but less steep ones like Tulse Hill over to Streatham too...

    Hit me with your nominations...

This post has brought on my sciatica... :o

  • Skully, you have to continue on from Blackheath up Shooters Hill - great view and the highest point in "proper" Saarf London (Sanderstead Plantation and Westerham Hill don't count)

  • @damo Cool. That thread seems to have gone a bit professional hardman for my liking, I want this to be on the fun night ride tip - open to mixed abilities, women made welcome, and people who wouldn't ever race (like me) - rather than lfgss climbing event with all that CC vibe. I might have to name it carefully...

    @Joe ha!

  • do it on a sunday, skulls, so we can have roast din-dins at a pub in blackheath.

  • @Skulls, yeah it has gone a bit like that, but, there's some hills mentioned in there.
There's that bit in and around Lordship Lane/Canonbie Road that's quite hilly. Eliot Bank has a nice off road finish on it. A night ride would be brilliant! Do it!
There's some bits in Auckland Road (off Church Road) but the views aren't too hot. A local favourite of mine is Streatham Common way, Hillside Road and Valleyfield. It's not big, it's quite quiet and when you get to the top you can look down to the west and see Richmond Park.
As you go to Crystal Palace from there you go up Central Hill, which is a bit of a bugger, and arrive at Crystal Palace Parade. A look down from there lets you see bits of that there London. Over to Dulwich way is ace as you see more of the City. There's that estate over that way that looks like a ship as well, that's got amazing views.
And I think there's something Norbury way.

  • Great work Damo... Richie I had a nightride in mind but I'll think on it. Reckon if it was evening rather than late, we could home in on a decent hostelry to finish up...

  • Wha'appen Jose? You starting the revolution or slumming?

    The latter? ;P

  • Or do it early, and then we can hit the pub.

  • most of the ride will be in the dark anyway - start early for sundowner atop one of south london's mountains...

    sunset at 4:01 today...

  • Sorry the muff ran out early. Next time I'll do more. Will probably do a savoury batch, goes better with beer.

Corn was really dropping some truth-bombs at the end. Wish i'd written them down.

Stowford press. Must be like some kind of truth serum.

  • ^ Farck! Wish I'd stayed longer now*...

    • No, I don't...
  • Oh how I loved the enthusasium over incorporating knitting into monday eves! By the end of the winter we can all have wooley scarves....... My skills don't reach as far as a BRM hat.

Muffin was good. Made an already good monday even better! Cheers TIbs.
