Have you been to the William IV in Leyton?
http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/51/5164/William_IV/Leyton
Has a microbrewery attached - the Brodies beer is very good - and an outside bit out the back but I have no idea if they would allow you to take bikes through the pub.
Went there on a (bicycle-related) pub tour once and got chatting with an old boy out front who was a keen cyclist for many years. "Wear sun block", he said. "I didn't and I got skin cancer on my face." Oof.

That's out in Essex.

I'm sure it's pretty in in Essex.

It's great, but there is absolutely no bike parking there.
+1. Great pub, great beers/ciders, fuck all bike parking.

Niall did the Pembury not stand up to the test? I've just got back from their and I think it's great, spacious, excellent (reasonably priced) beer, late licence.

I was on foot last night and forgot they don't let bikes in now, shame.

Ooh, we could do the Shakespeare. That's almost Norths territory there though. A whole 16 Ns.
Will we have to send an ambassador on a truce mission?+1 for the Shakespeare. It's a stones throw away from an E postcode. I think that makes it OK.

+1 for anything in Stokey, not been to the Shakespeare but N16s all good for me

The Shakespeare is rad. Tasty pizza next door, bring it into the pub, pintage, two big ol' thumbs up. :)

Bit more than that at my work local (The Old Fountain) but it is indeed smashing stuff.

It's a bit of a trek, but lets stick it on the list.
Actually it's not that much of a trek.Right, so next week, which one? Stokey or Leyton?

Right. post time...
This week we are going over the River Lea. Technically this takes us into Essex, which is pretty damn east, but not really the East End, which is of course in Middlesex. Anyhoo,
The people have spoken and this week it shall be The William IV in Leyton.

Leyton

Looks like the best way to get there is just head up the Lea Bridge Rd until you're there.
This pub has its own brewery producing fine, but low-priced (£2 a pint), ales and they had better bloody well be selling the Ho Ho Ho Christmas ale with cinnamon and ginger, cos it sounds lush.

I'm up for Leyton, good excuse for some extra miles. It will probably be more than I've done all weekend!

Yes, fucking yes! I shall drink until I'm ready to walk my bike home down the road.
Saying that, the area is nasty and you should watch out for any ICs (゚o゚;; ー Beaumont Estate opposite, so don't do no shortcuts towards Lea Bridge Rd.

Nice one, have fun. But as EEI says, avoid the back streets there after dark.

• #6547
YOU ARE ALL SCUM.
This information is bought to you by mr jealous and in a pissy mood Love you all really and like that pub.
-
• #6548
Is there are a bike parking?
-
• #6549
I don't know if they'll let you take bikes out the back. I'm hoping so. It has a little beer garden patio bit that has a full-height gate facing onto the pavement - it's been locked when I've been there but maybe they'll open it up if you ask nicely.

Due to vaccines I am once again off the sauce until thursday evening. As my week is drawing on I'm also acutely aware of how little time I have to get things sorted before I leave travelling. Basically I'm saying that I don't reckon I'll be down this week, but will definitely be down next week for the last hurrah.
It's great, but there is absolutely no bike parking there.
