Ok then, Easts TT lives on despite the pretty average weather we bin havin. The track dried out enough last night and the times were as follows:
Mobidog: 2:08.41
hoonz: 2:14.78
Nurse Holliday: 2:18.97
The Schick: 2:25.25I have a confession to make on last weeks times, if they seemed a little fast that's because they were fudged in the interest of trying to heat up some competetion etc. All involved agreed that we would have to come clean so here are the actual times from last week:
Reeen: 2:10.44
Ehren Fried Chicken: 2:19.12
Oliver Schick: 2:26.75 (full weight wheeler)
OKwithmydecay: 2:34.97
Bluequinn: 2:37.44 (geared)Would be cool if we could get more than a handful of times laid down each week. Come on you lot, htfu!

next time...

I might come have another go at sub 2 next week.

Just went back and checked, took 7 seconds out of my last time.
Not sure if it's the lower GI, the beer and gin, the amount of riding I've been doing recently, or just a healthy dose of HTFU.

Definately the gin. Gin for the win!

There are less people showing up on a regular basis, but i guess a lot of peoples calendars are full at the mo, and the weather has been real patchy.
There's plenty of ooomph, Easts TT is ooomph in it's purest form ;-)

Not trying to be down on it, just remembering what it was like this time last year: bloody heaving most weeks. Maybe time to do a barbie or something, get some visitors to show up.

east is nice..things run in natural circles though scully, I don't think its a reflection on the people still attending. Personally it's been a very busy (and accident prone) 6-8months for me and i have not attended any forum functions - which saddens me greatly.

We did lose a couple of regulars too in the form of Kattt and Teddy who have moved on to pastures new in Berlin.
Does anyone know the landlord down there?

What, in Berlin?

I'm sure Easts has dwindled simply because half the East London peeps are too busy playing polo!

teddy is coming back! leaving me here, friendless.... haha! we tried to make easts here, but it never happened. it was a pathetic, though good intentioned attempt. miss you guys!

an idea from hillbilly......
so with tdf time trial upon us (geared bikes) we are going to open easts tt to geared bikes for one week only.
so for tonight only see what you can do on gears. should be personal bests for everybody.
maybe somebody (not me) can race faster than 2 minutes ?
see you tonight (with gears if you want).

Won't be on gears, but I might start bringing some maths. How far is the TT route, what speed do you need to average to get a sub 2, time for a bit of a gear swap? Think I did a 2.08 first/last/only time I have tried.
-
• #3573
the TT is 1.4 km, 2.08,2.09 which is my average over the 3 times I have done it is approx 24.5 MPH avg.
-
• #3574
26.3 average speed will get you there in 1.59

You'd need to be doing about 30 on the straights to make up for your losses on the roundabouts. I managed 29.7 along there (once and once only) on 69 inches. You also need to be very lucky with the roundabouts. I had to wait patiently for 2 cars and a bus last time, so my geared time is even worse than my fixed one.
I don't think I'll be TT-ing again, gears or fixed. It makes me too knackered to drink enough beer.
correction single speed ?
