I found it on Carnaby street being thrown away, and thought I'd keep it to piss my neighbours, flatmates, and girl with. Then I thought 'I actually quite like them all, why piss them off?' Blue Quinn expressed an interest at easts, and so he gets it. I don't think he quite gets how big it is though! I would not cycle with it on my back, and I'm fairly reckless when it comes to that sort of thing..

I might have to wait till I'm drunk.
It's about as tall as a wheel, yes. That's gotta be do-able, surely? -
• #3505
aww! That explains it. Wow, the stuff people chuck away amazes me.
-
• #3506
it really is very large a bit taller than a wheel but also nearly as big around and weighs around 10 kg - if there was any sensible way to do it on a bike i think I would have brought it to easts...Have a go, but it's gonna hurt your back. I am here for another 2 hours so if you want it for the weekend, make it quick!

Hey guys, for all those that haven't seen it yet, details for "The Emma memorial ride" can be found here: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread24568-2.html
It'd be great to see as much support as possible for a fallen cyclist, and there will be a prominent reading of some words from friends/her partner, in addition to filming by the bbc going on for some hopefully positive publicity for memorials and the ghost bike movement also. -

@all - will be along for a crack at my previous TT time on weds . hope to see some faces. Also will be bringing a mildly psychotic dwarf who needs a few helping hands to hold her pole up so she can practice some street performing moves. If anybody is willing she would really appreciate the help. (rain will stop play)

If that offer doesn't get hippy out east, I don't know what will.

Tim wobbling his bike to the road, straddling it, deciding it might be better trying the pavement, holding on to the railings, spending 5 minutes trying to get his foot into the toeclip, spending another 5 minutes steeling himself to have a go at putting the other foot in the toeclip, then thinking better of the whole adventure and getting off his bike, deciding to wheel it home/use it as a crutch, was one of the highlights of the night.
And I have decided I am never doing another TT again. It nearly killed me. Oliver, post the times...

Oliver, post the times...
I don't have them, Gordon has them.
-
• #3518
no, the beer times :-)

• #3519
^^^heh, regarding that bike as a crutch thing, i learned a new expression yesterday out east: a pint of 'falling over juice'. i'd speculate that this was the effect of some of those downed in a row, but who am i to draw conclusions on my first east TT beers. thanks guys and girls for a nice eve. i'll ogle the thread for the times now ;)

It was a real "Whoop Ass Wednesday" down at the Easts TT track, and with 2 geared bikes thrown in a "run what yer brung" has mixed up the fixed dominance. Having a fast and distinctly German flavour it seems (must be all that efficency they mysteriously possess), the Germans hold 3 of the five top places this time around.
Time(s) flies when you're TTing down at easts:
Mobidog: 2:07.29
Reeen: 2:08.13
Ehren Fried chicken: 2:15.44
Oliver Schick: 2.18.75 (full weight wheeler)
OKwithmydecay: 2.30.97
Blue Quinn: 2.32.12 (geared)Me thinks this is going to be a rapid summer with so many contenders nudging so close to the quickest times to date. Will the old stalwarts of the Easts TT triumphantly return to proclaim their dominance? Find out next week.......

mmm not sure I agree with the policy of mixing it up with gears....even playing field and all that. Will see.
-
• #3522
I agree maybe if ppl want to set a time on a geared whip, they could choose a gear and stick to it.

• #3523
Anyone up for a swift one tonight?
Got to meet a man about a crankset at East's, thought I'd see if anyone else was up for it.
-
• #3524
no, the beer times :-)

To be honest I never want to set a time again :-)
Too much effort for a drinking night.I did it with the geared bike purely for comparison purposes, though there was a lot of traffic at the south roundabout so it wasn't comparable with my awesome slowness on the fixed.
I'm still tempted to try it on the Triumph though. That would mean no drinking beforehand and it would still be a slow time because it won't go round tight corners.
I ll shave my legs, dig out my black alpaca and see you on wednesday then.....
