Nice one, I'm hardly in prime condition but nice to know it's possible.
Is there enough of us for a list?

-
• #29
Bump only week and a half away.

i'm def going, think i'm the only fg of my lot though, still not booked a ferry or a campsite mind
-
• #31
I think I will stay with my fokes and get the ferry across from Lymington in the morning. With the added miles it should push me up to 200 km when coming from them. Not sure weather to do it fixed or not. I have not used my road bike in a long time so may use that. Would be good to meet up with some other people at least at the start though.

Yeah I'm going over on the saturday, Imagine will start at the check point as near campsite as possible. I don't need anymore than the 100k ;)

Out. Booked myself into another TT.

@kelvin, done it fixed last three years and it surely is. 48 x18. there are no climbs like ditchling beacon just (gentle, ahem) undulations for most of the day.
definitely go fixed.
@tommy - you know it dudeSeriously, Jonny, undulating like London-Cambridge or undulating like London-Brighton?
My in-laws are in Bournemouth, so I could get over for this one...

theres the elevations...

Stompy From what I remember of the island (walking not riding) nothing is steep but there are a fair amount of small not steep hills.
-
• #37
The only major climbs are out of Shanklin towards Ventnor, and in between Brook and Freshwater Bay.
-
• #38
stompy, as sam says, no major hills. a couple that drag on a bit round the west of the island. otherwise, yeah, undulating.
tommy, i have booked into accommodation in lymington, doing the ferry on the day thing. might catch you out there somewhere.
i am not really up for organising much about it this year as will be coaching my brother round the route. this will be a big challenge for him, the 100k, and it will make it an all dayer no doubt.

So who is doing this?
- Jonny
- Kelvin
- Sam?
- Stompy?
- Tommy
- It could be you no pre registration required!!
I know Jonny has his crew who he is riding with but I'd like to meet up with some people at the start even if everyone shoots off at high speed.

Ever the gentleman Jonny.:) Good luck to your bro although I am sure he will not need it if he has you to encourage him.
Cool will arrange something next week for a start time hello.

nice one tommy, am staying in lymington and starting in yarmouth. might be getting the 0815 ferry. will be good to ride with you for a bit. i am sure you will find our pace a little slow though and want to crack on. will pm you next week dude
-
• #44
so yarmouth is the place to start then we reckon?
-
• #45
kelvin, i would be happy to see all and everyone start at yarmouth. but it kind of depends where your staying on the island.
i used to always stay in ventnor and use the whitwell checkpoint but just fancied doing it a bit differently this year.
have you sorted out where you will be putting your head down dude? -
• #46
Remember doing this in 2003. Quite hilly (for me). Remember some hill towards Ventnor being a bit of a sod. Nice ride though, hopefully weather will be as nice as it was when I did it.
Remember I cleverly didn't take money or food with me so I was a bit tired on the east side, to say the least.
Good luck, would be interested to see photos of it.

Think i'm gonna be camping on the mainland now... the weather doesn't look too bad either
-

Where are you camping?
I saw a blend in Edinburgh for £10,000. Either someone must like 'em or it was the arrospok equivalent of whisky :)
