A normal tyre will get worn down in no time at all, and if it's got any tread then that will get ripped off in minutes.
-

With all due respect that is a crock. Perhaps ask a rep from any of the tyre makers and you'll get a smile. Turbo tyres are just a coloured, low tpi, cheap tyre.

Tell that to the 2 tyres I ruined before getting a turbo specific one. My turbo tyre is very stiff, nearly impossible to get on the rim and feels like it's made of a harder rubber. It can probably take a higher temperature too.

That's fine but so would a £9 Zaffiro slick.

Yup turbo tyres a complete con. If you are wearing out tyres on the turbo that quick then you are likely dialing in too much pressure in the roller.
They are no quiter either(sometimes louder) - see DC rainmaker for details.

Turbo tyres can often be picked up for a tenner send hand. I would rather have a spare wheel with a proper tyre which won't wear out than having to ride a shitty tyre on the road.

Cheers. I was planning on getting a turbo tyre one the weather gets bad enough to not take the (good weather) road bike out but I have a couple of old Luganos that can do both whilst the weather is good.

I have decided that cold, icy, long winter rides aren't for me (except the odd fixed one with pals) and finally set up my turbo.
I'm interested in trying out Zwift and Trainerroad, but need a ANT+ speed sensor.
Any recommendations? Cheap is good. -

Just bought a £6 ebay USB job; doesn't even register when I stuck it in the laptop but it found HR strap straight away on first test.

Anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced 11 speed upgrade kit for my lemond revolution?
-
• #888
Lemond themselvs.
Or hit up TTforum. Think someone on there has one.

i use open corsa's on my turbo
because I am lazy & need to get a specific turbo wheel set up

I warm my turbo up with Olympic edition Dugast silks and then do my session using tyres made from saffron that has been hand-stitched to air molecules.

That implies you do training. I call a lie.

Natural talent got me this far but I thought I should 'try' now.
-
• #893
Yeah, bloody $99!
I'll have a look at TTforum, but unsure whether i'll make it back alive

Just don't get sucked into the vortex.
Also I think you can buy 10speed sprocket fitmeet 11 speed cassettes from the likes of BBB, which would be fine on trainer. Might be cheaper.

any recommendations which floor mat to get? would be good if it would absorb some of the vibrations and not costing too much.
-
• #896
Do you have a link for the ebay usb stick you got?
-

Just grab a cheap yoga/excercise mat from sports direct. Less than a tenner usually.

Don't steal your girlfriends yoga mat as that doesn't end well

Ha!
By all means keep a training wheel to keep your nice tyres in good condition but...
These things a con. Just use any spare training tyre.
