  • Yeah i agree, i also have both, this thing even at 1 is mad! Just did a 45 min sweet spot session. Absolute game changer.

  • Thanks (and @amey). Might have to get one...

  • Really want to test it out but my legs are fucked today. Tomorrow morning it'll have to be

  • Hi all,
Hoping there might be someone out there with a power meter and also the Lifeline TT-02 Fluid Trainer.
I’ve bought the trainer and have been using it but would love to know roughly what kind of power I’m producing when using it. I have a speed sensor on my back wheel so know what speeds I’m ticking over at.
Someone has posted some readings at various speeds on wiggle but they seem a bit high to me? (See pic below)
    Any pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks all
    Al

  • Zwift supports your trainer: https://support.zwift.com/en_us/wheel-on-trainers-r1B5nQWxS#Lifeline

Which presumably means they've tested it to determine speed/power curve.

So you could use the free trial and see what it gives you.

  • Did you have it on the floor pointing at your chest and then the Honeywell blowing in your face?
Just testing it before tomorrow morning, it's mega!

  • That’s a very good idea. I’ll get setup and give it a try.
    Thanks chez_jay!

  • About 4x it seems.
Honeywells have about 350cfm, and are pretty focused, but the windspeed is much greater on the blower.

Kinda looking forward to going on the trainer tomorrow (if my legs work after today’s hilly ride)

  • Honeywell on the shelf pointed at my face with the window cracked open to get some fresh air. Blower on the floor at 45 degrees, another Honeywell on the floor for extra if needed.

  • I'll ask here because I think I remember trainer road plans being more effective.
I don't like the way zwift plans are "do this by then or the session disappears".

I'm older. I plod along in the CX league now.

I think a case of VO2 max sessions are needed...
Where are the 3-5 minute sessions on zwift or is it better to do it myself?

  • Urgh. Whatever you do, don't start with 3-5 minute rep sessions. Be absolute misery.

Do something starting from scratch and more progressive. Start at 30s or 1 minute and work your way upto 3 minutes. Can post up some TR workouts if you want.

  • Misery is my middle name.

  • Well, I did a zwift race with the new fan. Managed to put out my best 20 mins power during a climb. Intervals.icu upgraded my FTP by 7w.

    It's pretty awesome.

  • You're not meant to put the cadence sensor on the fan

  • Easy way to get the Tron Bike?

  • Bought a set second hand (almost unused) about 4 months ago - best £100 I've spent in ages.
I haven't used anything else (smart / modern), so can't comment on the resistance limitations and been doing hour long steady state sessions so hasn't been a concern (I'm pretty much done in after an hour @23mph on the middle resistance setting). I did wonder about setting up some sort of bowden cable arrangement so the resistance setting could be changed without dismounting but not felt the need really.

  • Found the British cycling e racing thing. That should do it.

  • Ah, so it's not 'smart' in the way a turbo would be, when linked up to a laptop, with the ability to automatically adjust resistance?

The one I saw has sold, but every time I think of buying something like this I end up talking myself out of it due to the fact there's a perfectly good outdoor track 5 mins down the road which serves well for mindless cycling. Thanks for the info though.

  • I did lol at the Vacmaster description:

The Vacmaster Air Mover provides a highly efficient portable solution for drying floors, carpets, walls and ceilings quickly, as well as providing a powerful cooling system for indoor training and athletes.

I'm happy with my fan,I'd just like to be able to control it remotely or even better have a smart fan.

I think basically I want that Wahoo one.

  • I love it so much I refuse to have any in my house.

    Actually, that's not true, I have a Garmin HRM I don't use.

  • The vacmaster shifts bigger volumes of air, is quiet, and cheaper?
You could put a smart plug on it I guess ?

  • I'd just like to be able to control it remotely or even better have a smart fan

I got a cheap smart plug, linked it to Alexa and can at least switch it on and off remotely obs cant remotely change power as it’s a cheap floor standing fan with 3 buttons for power which I can’t reach.

  • I found having my fan at eye-level off-putting. I actually started wearing glasses on the turbo to stop my eyes watering and quickly shifted it back to the floor.
When those air movers are put right in front of the front wheel - where do they 'hit'?

  • Depends on how much belly overhang you have at the moment...

  • The standard amount I guess. Enough to shelter my dick but not enough to block my face from a floor fan.
