I've got 19 hours of time to kill on a couple of bus rides this coming weekend. I get motion sick so reading will be limited. Any advice for audio books?

Ha, it does. I haven't tried it, but I suspect it would be awful.

I dunno. To be honest, it'd be a pretty good move to team up with audible (although I think Amazon may have thier own audio book shop?), and offer an app for it. I'm still surprised there aren't more apps (a gmail app!).

Ha!
Anyway. Grabbed the Screwtape Letters and some nerdy thing (Good Omens). But would really like some non-fiction if anyone has some ideas? Bus is at 9am tomorrow... Probably too late, anyway, actually.

Just reading - love it. -

And The Art of War is excellent. You can easily read it in a day. I keep it handy and dip in and out of it now, at random pages. Wisdom aplenty for everyday warfare.

Where are you going H? If this is some Polo thing then I cannot help, but if it's to the wedding of the century I could give you a lift (this evening though)

Just finished this too - strange, dark tales. Really enjoyed it, and ta for the recommendation from Wrongcog! -

I just read Any Human Heart by William Boyd. It was great, can't recommend it enough. Written in the form of a journal with an extremely engaging turn of phrase, you follow the main character through some massive 20th centrury events, seen through his eyes. Brilliant.

Just finished Hemingway - Fiesta, really really liked it. Anyone got similar stuff to recommend?

I personally think Steinbeck is waaaay better than Hemingway, but Men without Women by Hemingway is also excellent.

Cheers, but alas it was a polo thing (UK Champs in Edinburgh). Good fun, but that much time on a bus is mental.
Also, the two audio books I got were incredibly similar! I knew what Screwtape Letters was about (epistolary novel recounting the life of a devil trying to collect souls), but had no idea that Good Omen's was also about the world of devils and their work on Earth.
Cool story, bro.

Anyone read this? I've just started it, and it is well written, but if it is simply a study of 'outsiders' in literature then i'm not particularly interested.I'll plow on, although I've yet to be 'grabbed' by the book.
